Pity that the bar wasn't staffed at all times - impossible to get a drink in the evening before dinner because we couldn't find anyone to serve us.

Peaceful surroundings with lovely gardens and pool area. Extremely tranquill, with wonderful views of the surrounding hills. Very good access to the nearby town of Lucca. Nice relaxing place to stay.

We requested one of their top rooms and were upgraded to their best suite, which was wonderful.

An absolutely wonderful villa in beautiful surroundings.... Exquisite public rooms .... Stately suite with wonderful high ceilings and beautiful wall coverings in every room .... The bathroom was large and well appointed .... All and all a fabulous find ....

The house and grounds are very beautiful. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. We were upgraded to an extremely large room with a balcony and a very large bathroom. The bathroom was not quite as modern as we would have expected. It looked like it had probably been last rennovated in the 80's. However, everything was very nice and clean, and the actual building is very special and historically interesting.

The standard rooms at la principessa are under standard with an old ans small bathroom with a horrible shower that worked badly.
The hotel lacks comfort for a 4 star one.
The lounge was not really pleasant to stay in either and nobody was staying at the bar. though the house is beautiful it could be nicer inside. The gardens and terrace are lovely; the swimming pool large and pleasant

Indicate that standard rooms are low standard rooms. We didn't have the opportunity to visit superior ones.

We loved the hotel and the service. The grounds and garden were beautiful, service excellent, staff welcoming and most helpful. The hotel breakfast was good but dinner disappointing. That would be our only criticism.

A very peaceful setting with first class service without being to fussy. Our stay enabled us to relax and unwind. we were at all times made to feel welcome by the friendly and polite staff.

The standard of the restaurant meals was much lower than I would have expected for the cost of them and for a property of this calibre.
At breakfast time often guests had to wait until a table became free in the breakfast room. This is not acceptable at these prices.

For a high-end resort, I was dissatified with the pool. The hotel did not have enough lounge chairs for its guests. The pool area was not that busy, but at least 8 guests had to sit on the ground due to lack of adequate lounge chairs.

Very nice overall, found the bedrooms a bit dated and the hallways were in need of decorating. Too dark and the colors were pretty bad - bright green carpet looked like astroturf... just seemed a bit too dark and oppressive to me.
