Profile

Villa Bordoni, an idiosynchratic 16th century noble villa, nestles in the grey-green hills immediately above the town of Greve, capital of the Chianti Classico region of Tuscany. It was discovered by the Gardner family in the winter of 2002. David and Catherine Gardner, both Scottish-born, are the founders and owners of successful Florentine restaurants 'Baldovino' and 'Beccofino'.

For some years they had been searching for the ideal property to realise their ambition of opening a luxurious but unpretentious country house hotel in the Florentine Chianti. When discovered, the villa was in a dire condition and slowly decaying into the poetically beautiful landscape which surrounds it. Now that the house, its Italian garden and its six hectares of olive groves and vines have been lovingly restored to their former splendour, David and Catherine are looking forward to opening Villa Bordoni's doors as a hotel and restaurant in the Spring of 2005.

Suffice to say that
no corner has been cut in the realization of this small, unique and luxurious hotel. David and Catherine Gardner sincerely hope that all their guests will have not only a relaxing and enjoyable stay but will have a genuine Tuscan experience that they can cherish forever.
