In the heart of the world famous region of Chianti Classico, you will find the Castle of Vicchiomaggio. The area is well knowned as on of the top producers of wine. Close to the town of Greve in Chianti, only four kilometers away and with easy driving distance to Florence, Siena and Pisa makes Vicchomaggio an ideal starting point from where you can explore Tuscany and it's surroundings. Castello Vicchiomaggio is situated on top of a hill at about 2 km uphill from the next bus stop and 4 km from the next town, we therefore recommend our guests to rent a car to stay at the castle. |

From the Highway (Autostrada): A1 BOLOGNA-ROMA (FIRENZE SUD exit). After the toll-both, take the first road on the right, and follow the indications for GRASSINA, Strada in Chianti, Greve in Chianti. The road is nr. 222, la via Chiantigiana. The Castle is between the 18° and 19° km of road nr. 222.
From the Airport: Follow indications above.
From Florence Railway station with SITA or Bus (Firenze S.Maria Novella): You can take the SITA bus direction GREVE IN CHIANTI Via GRASSINA, (not via Ferrone), and go off at the LE BOLLE stop, which is at 2 km from the castle, about 20 min uphill walk up to the Castle. The SITA office is in front of the Bar De Anna, behind the station. From the railway station you can also take the bus nr.31, direction Grassina, and in Grassina changing to the SITA line and follow indications above. |
