Mark was very pleasant and accommodating upon our arrival - he immediately offered us cool refreshments and made us feel quite welcome. Mauricio was equally friendly and professional in showing us to our apartment, although communication was a bit challenging due to his limited English and our limited Italian.

The only challenge was in trying to locate the property.

We had requested to check out the night before as we would have been leaving very early the next morning - Mauricio was gracious enough to facilitate our request.

- The food served in the restaurant was outstanding - a definate high point of our stay.
- Our hosts allowed us to observe them milking the sheep and making the cheese - I'm not sure if this is generally offered to all guests, but this was another highlight of our stay.

Breathtaking views, modern and comfortable accomodations, warm and friendly hosts, a beautiful property definately worth visiting again!

We were warmly greeted and taken care of. The attention, food and atmosphere made us feel like part of the family. Definitely 5 stars in my book and would revisit Vergelle most definitely when I next visit Italy.

Property is long way away from main road. Need to drive several km across unpaved road. No problem for our 4X4 car, but may be less pleasant for people with a small car.

Two remarks: the owner puts too much chlorine in the swimming pool, and smell from stables next to swimming pool sometimes disturbing.

They really need to provide more specific directions to Vergelle. Directions provided on the website were extremely vague. We missed the exit on the Autostrada (they should state which exit it comes right after) and were driving for a long time on country roads and making wrong turns. We had to ask directions several times and it was at night. The map from the website was fairly useless--you should scan a good, detailed map and post it as a clear pdf or jpeg file for printing out.

We had a wonderful stay. The beds were comfortable and the staff, particularly Mauricio, were very nice. They had some construction going on during the day, which made it difficult to take a nap in the afternoon, but usually we were away at that time.

A charming, large restored brick farmhouse in a perfectly picturesque setting. Very quiet and restful. Large apartment with 2 large bedrooms. Wonderful views of the countryside out of the 2nd floor windows. Staff could mainly communicate in Italian and only spoke a few words of English, so English speaking visitors should be prepared to speak a little bit of Italian.

Host spoke little English and it can be a problem when trying to give directions.

At check-in we asked if we get breakfast and the staff replied yes, but we had to pay at end of stay. Again the communication can be better.

They don't provide a shared-laundry facility.

Very nice place with lovely appartements (typical toscany style) and very quiet location. A lot of sheeps around Vergelle.
The local food which we got every evening in the small family restaurant was perfect (antipasti with for example Percorino cheese, pasta and as main curse nice mead).
Direct sales with very good Percorino cheese with different tastes, nice wine.
Actually some other buidlings in Vergelle are under modernisation, will become very nice one day.

When you first arrive, the place might look to you a bit unkept. However, once you get to talk to the owners, and see details (room, dinner, etc.), you know that it will be a pleasant experience, which it was.

The owner did not speak any English and this of course made the communication a bit difficult. If they could provide more written information about the place and the surroundings in English the stay would have been even better.
There was a problem with the water supply which caused that we did not have access to any water for more than 24 hours.
The day after we checked in the pool area was 'invided' by a lot of Italians, possibly the owner's family members. We thought that this was a bit stange as the occupied most of the pool area and there was not much space left for the paying guests.

At the web site you say that the farm produces cheese, olive oil, herbs (and wine?) The only thing we recognised was the cheese production. It might be right that they produced other products, but there were no information on possibilites to watch the production or how to buy the products.

The property is quite delightful, although it is a bit remote (3 kilometres of hilly gravel road). The family at the farm were very friendly and polite. When we arrived, we had difficulty finding anybody who could let us in to the property, but when we did it all went very smoothly. We would put Vergelle on our list of places to stay next time we come to Tuscany. Notably, we overpaid by accident at the end of our stay, and the overpayment was returned to us before we left.

I think the directions could be more precise, you have a long way to go after you turn off SS38. You follow the gravel road for 1.5 kilometres, then turn right by the house that is under restoration, and follow the road for a further 2 kilometres. We passed two properties that we thought might be Vergelle before we arrived, and we were able to recognize the property only from the photos on the website.

A charming apartment in a farmhouse right in the heart of the Crete Senesi countryside. Lovely views, quiet, and convenient for touring Tuscany. Wonderful local cheeses and wines freely available. All you will hear is the sound of sheep, no cars! Friendly people. Good value.

We booked the apartment, Il Melograno, but when we arrived we discovered that the apartment had been given to somebody else because they made a mistake. They didn't seem to know we were coming that day. We ended up with a bigger apartment, which was okay, but I would have preferred the one we booked.

Vergelle was lovely but it was the only accomodation that after my arrival theren was absolutely no interaction or attempt to do anything to make us comfortable, give us any information or to help us inany way. No one even asked if we needed anything or wanted anything. I would not go back besides the fact that it was lovely.
