In some historical book, Tornano is mentioned since the XI century. And with Tornano it is celebrated the noble Guamellotto da Mezzolombardi as first owner of the castle, who became famous for his strong resistance to the emperor Frederick "Red Beard".

Tornano, national monument protected by the Ministry for Fine Arts, is a
medieval castle dated 1100 A.D., located on a hillside amid woods and vineyards, in the southernmost tip of the Chianti region.

The estate offers
charming rooms inside the castle and country style apartments in the farmhouse aside the castle. The elegant and charming rooms are equally distributed along the castle and the tower. The suites are furnished with antique furniture and the bathrooms have a unique style. Seven apartments have been renovated in respect of the original rural structure and offer comfortable lodging from two to five persons.

On the roof garden of the tower the guests of the suites can enjoy the magnificent view, the solarium and a five seats whirlpool. In the cave you can taste the farm's production: Chianti Classico wine, olive oil, vin santo and grappa. The restaurant is genuine and respect the old tradition of the Tuscan cuisine.

You can relax in the pool built up inside the ancient moat of the castle. You can walk across tracks among vinyards, olive groves and wood, you can play tennis or fish in the lake or in the river. In the neighborhood it is possible to reach the thermal bath "Antica Querciolaia" in Rapolano Terme" and play golf at Golf Club Ugolino.
