 The large, tempting swimming-pool, the poolside terrace and the barbecues offer you some very relaxing moments. A spin in a hot air balloon, a ride on mountain bikes or horseback, a game of "bocce" or cards are some of the many ways you can relax at the Tenuta di Corsignano.

 Cooking Classes are held in the "limonaia", a delectable room (200mē) with marble tables, antique cupboards and an old stone sink. Classes include"l'arte di far di cucina" (cooking class), wine tasting "l'arte del far vino", "l'arte di scolar la pasta" (pasta-making class), and "l'arte dell'erbolario" (herb class). Seasonal tours like the "l'arte di vendemmiare" (grape harvesting), "l'arte di coglier l'oliva" (olive harvesting) are held in the Autumn.

 Nearly twenty acres of the Fattoria di Corsignano are devoted to wine production, and you are invited to walk amidst its vineyards and tour its wine making cellar. Mario and Elena have arranged a tasting of the classic Tuscan goods that they produce including Riserva wine, Chianti Classico wine, grappa, Vinsanto, olives, olive oil. Incorporating the value of the traditional winemakers and the knowledge of modern day technology, Mario and Elena's purpose is to make quality products, keeping all the characteristics of the small producers.
The velvety Riserva and the ruby-red Chianti Classico wine are obtained by a strict selection of grapes (95 % San Giovese and 5% Canaiolo), a long maturation in French oak barrels and a final stage for at least 3 months in the traditional, bordolese bottle. Because of this caring, the wines develop an intense bouquet which reminds violets and spices. Their label is a xilographie realised by the Marchigiano artist Mario Gambedotti who cares very much for the country customs.
The "grappa" is distilled, according to the Italian tradition, by the fresh Chianti Classico husk. It has a crystal-like transparency and an intense fruity flavour. Its label has been realised by the famous painter Eugenio Comencini and shows a traditional Tuscan winemakers' family.
The sweet Vinsanto, the extra virgin olive oil pressed with the grind-stone traditional system, the tasty olives are a small production that may be tested only by the guests of the farm.

 From the estate, a dirt road about 500 yards long leads to the nearby hamlet Corsignano and its local restaurant. Five minutes away by car is Vagliagli for basic shopping. Siena and all of its attractions are within a 15 minute drive and Florence is an hour away. Daily excursions to Pisa, Lucca, Perugia as well as to the ancient villages of San Gimignano, Volterra, Pienza, Montalcino, Montepulciano are easily possible. Lovely castles, monasteries and abbeys are nearby. Chemist, medical doctor, post office, supermarket are located in Vagliagli. Banks, petrol stations and railway station are located in Siena. A bus service is in the hamlet of Corsignano. |
