Due to a couple of factors, we arrived quite late. The proprietors were extremely gracious and helpful in greeting us in spite of this.

We loved staying at Castello del Poggiarello di Stigliano and hope to return again. The decor was beautiful - simple and elegant with both modern conveniences and wonderful antiques. The proproprietors were friendly and helpful every step of the way.
The only recommendation we have for improvement is regarding the shower curtain. It's pretty but not quite sufficient in size or weight to allow taking a shower without getting quite a bit of water on the floor.

Charming, beautiful, great restaurant right down the small hill, blissfully quiet and away from the noise and business of the cities. A true Tuscan experience and central enough to do day trips throughout Tuscany. I highly recommend and hope to return.

The direction to stigliano was hard. Once to Stigliano, there were signs on the road that lead to place.

The place was well kept and quiet. The host Andrea was excellent and helpful. He provided directions and locations of places to visit and was very accomadating.

while it is hard to use pictures to convey the attributes of this property, I felt the pictures actually under-portrayed the attributes. we were pleasantly suprised and from what we have read in the guest book, everyone who stayed there has the same reaction. I think there are opportunities to improve the marketing of the property given its uniqueness

We used a GPS and although i printed your directions, we did not use these as GPS took us right to the door :).

The only negative comment on the accommodation on our whole stay was that the windows of the bedroom at the top of the tower were not as clean as one would desire thus hindering a bit the marvellous view. We appreciate that maintaining these could be a mammoth task due to the fact that this room is an entire glass room within the Tower's Keep. But...:-)

The stairs :-). An elderly couple or couples with very young children will have a nightmare climbing to the top, although i must say that the climb is well worth the effort and should NOT be a deterrant to people with no such health problems

Magical. The location too is perfectly situated about 10-15 minutes from Siena. All places of interest were within easy reach (max 1 hour drive and at most times less)

The shower was leak, so the floor in the bathroom was wet during our stay. We did not get many towels, so we had to use al the towels 3 or 4 times.
But everything else was very nice!

This was a superb holiday - the host family were so welcoming and Andrea had all kinds of information about the local area. The house was perfect - better than described; very tastefully renovated and converted with a particularly well equipped kitchen. Highly recommended.

The property is beautiful. Could use a sign indicating the property name and office location. The tower room was our favorite of all we stayed in in Italy. Owner was very nice and knowledgeable about the history of the property.

I could not have been more pleased with our stay. The castle tower was incredible. Our view and accomodations far exceeded our expectations. Most importantly, Andrea was the most helpful person we met on our entire trip. His advice and suggestions along with his history lesson for us was invaluable and really made our trip unique.

It would be nice if people could find more suggestion about places to visit, where to find good wine directly to the producer (same of the oil). I have to say that Andrea (the owner) helped us on this.

Marvellous. Perfect for couples and families. Lovely swimming pool, nice weather, perfect for the sightseeing of the south of Tuscany but also perfect for a simple relaxing holiday.

the directions could be a little clearer. We had to ask directions in Sovicille.
You should state the way to get there from Sienna.
Also remind persons going there that they will need to get some groceries and soap and stuff should their stay be more than a few days.

Website has directions coming from north but not from south. I first arrived to Siena then try to find my way to Stigliano but needed to ask 3-4 times to somebody.Then, I realized that you just need to follow highway. Better you state this on your website.

We all had a great time there. If one is looking for a Hilton like room this is not it. This place had real old world charm with just the right amount of upgrading so that we did not have to go get the water and firewood to survive.
Overall it was a great experience.

We weren't sure where to go when we arrived, but then I called the phone number I had and the caretaker came out and met us.

We really liked the castle. It was a very charming place. The kitchen facilities were OK but we could have used more dish towels and other linens in the place. Needed more paper towels and toilet paper. There weren't many place nearby to pick these items up. Also, we could have used some more (clean) blankets. There were a few in the closet but they were a bit dirty. In general, however, it was a very nice place and the caretaker was pleasant. Many thanks for a wonderful stay in Tuscany.

The property was difficult to find but once we did, the manager was very polite and very helpful. He went out of his way to help out with our trip and offered several suggestions. He seemed very interested in our having a good vacation.

You might want to mention that some rooms are probably not suitable for older peple or those with health conditions. There are a lot of steps to climb to the uppder rooms and it could be difficult for some.

Be certain you love stairs if staying in Torre 3 or Torre 4.Torre 3- Sitting in my warm whirling tub each morning, viewing the rooftops of midevil Tuscany and the countryside beyond-perfecto! Torre 4 - What a view from the glass enclosed bedroom, surrounded by ancient merlons.

We found the town easily with your directions, but had difficulty finding the property itself. Nobody was there, so we thought we had the wrong place. The townspeople know the property simply as 'The Tower (Torre)' and therefore were unable to help us either. We did reach the proprietors by phone, and arrangements were made to let us in. From that point on, everything went beautifully. I would recommend changing the name of the property to include 'tower' because that is what distinguishes it, and it is what the locals call it anyway.

It is a wonderful place, with incredible views, large rooms, a modern bath, terrific pool, and a quiet atmosphere. Our children loved the fairy-tale aspect of staying in a medieval tower! We will recommend it to friends, and hope to stay there again someday!

As I stated above under 'Comments about your stay' plus: It is very convenient to Siena. We were there during a heat wave, and our room was quite comfortable with the windows open; there was always a pleasant, refreshing breeze. We loved this place!

Did not really know what to expect. The rooms were large and well furnished. The bathrooms were modern and large. The 'Castle' turned out to be the highlight of our stay in Italy. Also you really need to push the restaurant in town as it is very nice.

You should say that the restaurant in towm is excellent. and easily within walking distance of the Castle.

It's a great way to stay in one place for a few days to see the Tuscany area of Italy. But be sure to bring a large umbrella as it rained everyday.

Couldn't find the place for the life of us-- no signs, and the map provided was incredibly vague, just based on neighboring cities. We drove around for at least an hour, and even locals couldn't help us find it when we were 1km away. The arrival was very frustrating. I had even emailed the castle for instructions ahead of time, but got the same vague map.

We loved the Torre 4 so much we decided to stay another night. It was exactly as the web site showed, but you never expect things to be as good as the brochure-ware. This time, it was! :) The place was clean, spacious, and with an absolutely incredible view. The only thing the web site could have clarified was that this room had the top floor, and a 360 degree view, which was a nice surprise!

The owner wasn't sure how to ring us up on the visa, but he was very nice about it and we didn't mind. It took many tries.

The castle was one of the highlights of our trip-- a fantastic get-away, but still conveniently located to Siena. Wake up to the sunrise over Tuscany, a few roosters, and some pidgeons cooing.
The views were incredible, and the ability to walk around the entire tower (Torre 4) and look at the Tuscany hillsides was enjoyable day, night, and during a thunderstorm. The rooms were spacious, clean, but with original charm. It was very cool to stay in an actual castle with history. We found a fantastic restaurant in the next town (Orgia). The staff was friendly and helpful.
We found this on the web and didn't know if reality would be as good as the pictures, but we really felt we got our money's worth. We'd go back any time!

The clean linen was left at the bottom of the tower with no note other than our apartment number. We had to change our own bed.

We had great dificulty finding the owner at any time after we had checked in. I would have liked him to visit us at some time during our stay of 17 days to see that we were happy with everything.

Although we knew our apartment was at the top of a tower (five floor up) we would not have wanted to have children or elderly parents with us as it was not suitable. Luckily we did not have any meals in the apartment as we had friends staying close by who had a ground floor apartment. We could not have easily eaten outside as carrying the food would have been a major problem.

Our bedroom was magical with views all round the tower and we could see for miles. Wonderful dawns and sunsets. Not suitable for children or elderly or infirm people. A lovely area and a unique experience.

More isolated than we first thought. The bathrooms in Casa Ventura were very spacious and the pictures don't do them justice. Need to let folks know that there's a winding staircase up to the bedrooms that is hard to navigate with suitcases.

We stayed at La Capanna, a 2 bedroom apartment, separated a bit from the other Castello apartments. It was very difficult to find, and we stopped and asked directions twice.

The pool was just barely finished and not yet landscaped, and was difficult to find. I expect that next year it will be lovely.
Otherwise, the accomodation was lovely and clean. We loved the antique furnishings and the very pleasant terrace. The house was spacious and the kitchen was reasonably well equipped.
Signor Boccelli was very gracious and interesting. We were staying at the time of the Palio in Siena, and he spent time explaining the Palio to us and giving us tips on where to go and what to see while in Siena.
