I had already seen the property, so I knew if would be wonderful. However, it was so easy to book through your service. When I inquired about the availability of a room, I received a reply right away. Everything went so smoothly. I would certainly book through this site in the future.

Outstanding; met all expectations.

Very easy and dependable.

Lovely accomodations in a small town overlooking a main street that is closed to traffic. The staff speaks English and are very accomodating. There is a beautiful terrace for drinks in the evening. The hotel itself has a beautiful common room for reading if the weather is bad. The breakfast is very ample and nicely served.

We arrived 'without luggage' and we were told when our luggage arrived they would bring it to our room. If we did not get it by evening they told us they would call airline. We did receive luggage by 9pm.

My sister and I cound not have been more pleased and delighted with our stay in Palazzo Squarcialupi. We will highly recommend it and plan to return in two years. From the staff, to the room, to the view, and oh yes, we LOVED the wonderful breakfast and particularly enjoyed 'Franka' when she was our waitress. As I said to my sister, If there is anywhere better than this,(Tuscany, hotel, wonderful food, pleasant and delightful people) God kept it for himself!
...
Checked out the night before because we had to leave by 5am. We were given a wake-up call. Very smooth.

There is nothing negative to say about this hotel. It is a gem and will be remembered as one of the remarkable accommodations of all of my travels. The town is sleepy and ancient and the surrounding Tuscan hills are the picture of serenity. It was perfect.
...
The utmost care has been taken in restoration and maintenance of this palazzo. Most of the original architecture remains intact and the spaces have been enhanced by beautiful period antiques. The swimming pool was perfectly situated on the terrace descending the town wall, on which the palazzo is constructed, and it is unpretentious and serene. The landscape that is viewed from this terrace is the perfect image of Tuscany.

The hotel was better than we expected it to be.
...
Bill was accurately prepared in advanced for an early check out.

Newly redecorated rustic tile bathrooms were spacious and attractive. The decor of the hotel was attractively Tuscan.
...
The hotel, staff, and services were excellent. Service was friendly, the room was very large and attractively decorated, and everything was spotlessly clean. The breakfast room and public rooms were interesting with the rustic charm of a Tuscan palace. We look forward to staying at this hotel on our next trip to Italy.

Squarcialupi was the perfect position in Chianti and a very, very comfortable hotel for a long stay or short. Very relaxing and welcoming. I would highly recommend my friends stay there. We felt right at home and would have happily stayed longer. The town is beautiful and the team at Squarcialupi go out of their way to make sure you know about local eatieries and amenities.

Our party required some special arrangements due to health problems and these were quickly and pleasantly provided. The staff were also helpful with restaurant information and directions. We will gladly return for another visit in the future and enthusiastically recommend palazzo Squarcialupi to friends.
...
The value for the money was much better than other places we stayed in Italy.
...
Centrally located for wine tasting; the surrounding countryside was most attractive and scenic.
...
Delightful atmosphere, attractive decor, very clean bedroom and bathroom, good quality bed and bathroom linens. Once the inevitable street noise subsided, all was quiet and peaceful. The breakfast buffet was most pleasing. The hostesses did everything possible to make our stay pleasant. They were friendly and helpful. We appreciated that they spoke English. The public areas and private bedrooms were attractively decorated.

We loved staying at Palazzo Squarcialupi in Castellina. The staff of the hotel were very friendly and helpful, especially Alberto. We also enjoyed swimming in the pool at the fatoria. NOt familiar enough with the web site to comment but since we have now stayed there twice over the past 4 years I would say our reason for returning is the hotel gives you a real sense of the town as well as it's history just by the ambience of the setting and the decoration.

Like any town between walls, Castellina poses some challenges to the person on a first visit seeking his/her way around. Once the topography of the town is understood, it all becomes very simple indeed.

The best directions to the property were given upon arrival by the hotel staff, who also provide an excellent map.
...
We loved Palazzo Squarcialupi and will gladly return and highly recommend it to others. Some of the guests we met there had also mentioned having enjoyed their stay and their readiness to come back.
...
Palazzo Squarcialupi is one of the most charming hotels at which we have stayed throughout our quite extensive travel experience. The rooms are spacious, the service beyond reproach, the buffet breakfast generous and elegant, the staff and management care.
...
1. Arriving in Castellina with a car, after facing the winding roads of the Chianti, is a challenge in itself. The prospective visitor should be provided with more complete details about the need to drive through a 'permit only' area, otherwise blocked to car traffic, and where to temporarily park to unload luggage. The hotel has a very good chart, which would be a good start.

2. Guests who may have some difficulty negociating the many stairs from the parking lot to the hotel should be counselled to be dropped off at the near end of Via Feruccio instead of climbing the stairs. This could be done both at booking time and at check-in.

I would encourage all my friends who wish to visit the Chiantigiana region to use Palazzo Squarcialupi as a base, and I am convinced they will remain my good friends after actually staying at Palazzo Squarcialupi.

We stayed in the Farmhouse (T1 apartment). The woman at the front desk very clearly explained how to get there, where the key was, and also gave a local map of Castelina showing grocery store and bakery.
...
We stayed at the farmhouse (T1 apartment) and there are very few pictures of this property. So we were very pleasantly surprised at it's location, the size, the moderness of the amenities (kitchen, bathroom), and overall comfort of the apartment.
Our one complaint is that the beds (2 twins) were extremely soft and a little uncomfortable for sleeping.
...
Checkout was easy and quick...took less than 5 minutes!
...
You should definitely post more pictures of the farmhouse apartments and location. I think that would generate more bookings for that part of the property.

Excellent...would (and already have) highly recommend.

The most amazing building and room right in the heart of lovely Castellina. A shame that the sum goes off the pool in the late afternoon (just when you'd like a refreshing swim after sight-seeing) but you can't have everything and there was always the jacuzzi in the fabulous spa area under the hotel.

We loved the accommodations and everything about the place. The view from our room was beautiful. People at the desk were very helpful with our millions of questions and directed us to my favorite restaurant of the trip. The confusion in getting there was due to not being able to drive on some streets. I think I tried to print a map from the internet and it wouldn't print. Once we got to town and walked in, there was no problem in asking someone and finding the hotel. We wished we could have stayed for at least two more days to have time to look around and try the swimming pool and see the area. We will definitely come back if we get to take another vacation in Italy.
...
Every place we stayed in Italy was very expensive, but compared to the rest, Squarchialupi was slightly less and probably the prettiest and most comfortable. If it hadn't rained, it might have been hot, because the air-conditioner did not seem to put out much cool air, but it was cool at night so not a problem. We had to leave earlier in the morning than expected, so were unable to officially check out, but I expect the credit card bill will be as quoted on the email, since everything else was.
...
I've already recommended it to several people as quiet and charming, with nice shops and restaurants nearby.

Our stay at the Palazzo Squarcialupi was the highlight of our trip! We had a wonderful room that was very spacious and a great view of the country side! The staff was so kind and helpful. One day our battery had died in our car and they called the mechanic for us. Then on our last night the staff gave us real wine glasses and set up a table on their terrace so we could enjoy some wine and the evening. very accomodating staff, who helped us even after we checked out on the day the hotel was shutting down for the winter.
