Room quality varies - for the same rate, the three rooms our group occupied ranged from very poor (strong sewage smell and deodorizer in small room with street view) to very nice (larger loft style with beautiful view over countryside). ... Beautiful location, very friendly staff, comfortable accommodation

This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel. We stayed there three years ago and found the service and facilities beyond expectation. Lorenza and her staff create an environment that is inviting and charming as well as provide valuable input on places to see and how to get there. ... Having been at the facility prior, I did not examine the web site for explicit detail. ... The rooms and decor are what you might expect to find in this type of hotel. However, the atmophere created by the staff takes 'charm' to the highest level. Also, the most peaceful outdoor eating area anyone could imagine. The views over the Tuscany country side are breathtaking and certainly something everyone should experience. I love the old well outside the back doors. And to top it off, the location to the south entrance of Siena is very convenient.

Very welcoming, efficient service,
First impressions as you enter reception were what a lovely, clean, individual hotel. ... I was so impressed with the standard and service I wrote to Santa Caterina to say so, which is an unusual thing for me to do.
The garden and breakfast were so relaxing and this hotel is great value for money. ... As above. Drinks in the garden a must.

Everybody was very friendly and welcoming. ... The accomodations were very clean and comfortable and the location was charming. ... This was a charming hotel, and our room on the side of the building facing the countryside had an absolutely breathtaking view. The hotel staff were very friendly, and my friend and I loved the beautiful garden where we had a leisurely breakfast looking out over the hills of Tuscany. A perfect place to relax for a day or two in one of Tuscany's most charming towns. I wish we had stayed more than one night! I am recommending the hotel to my parents who are coming to Italy on their 25th anniversary soon, and would definately recommend it to others.

The Manager, Lorenza, was extremely professional in recommending restaurants and doing all the small things that ensured the maximum pleasure of our stay. The staff: Andrea, Joseph and the additional gentleman could not have been more agreeable or helpful at every moment of our residence.

The hotel was just as wonderful as the website suggested, and the staff were even more helpful. We were totally satisfied! ... We will refer other friends to the website and the hotel. ... Staff even called ahead to Rome to book a hotel for the following evening. ... not really ... A charming, colorful small hotel just at the Porta Romana, a great location which avoids the 'in-city' traffic and parking issues of locations within the city gates yet is within an easy stroll to the Center. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The view from our room was breathtaking, and quite unexpected, given the proximity to the town. Ours definitely was a 'room with a view' and the interior was quite charming, as well.

Very helpful and polite, and great English speaking skills. ... The garden was really great for breakfast, reading, and drinks. ... The fact that the hotel offers bar service in the afternoon was nice, and not mentioned on the Web site. ... It's a great place to stay just outside of Siena, away from the crowds with a feel of the countryside.

Like several other arriving tourists to Siena by train or bus, regardless of which hotel one is staying at, we found that getting a taxi to the hotel from either station is by chance or is difficult and entails a long wait. Once we got oriented and appreciated the unique and beautiful nature of Siena we understood this situation, but it was disconcerting for a weary traveller. Taxis called from the hotel were prompt, clean and fairly priced. ... A fantastic garden for breakfast or an evening beverage. Everything we wanted: Great staff and considerate service, a small well cared for property, a delightful fresh breakfast, a clean quiet room, no clatter or noise, a great location, and reasonably priced. Walking required. We would return.

We were very happy with our room at Santa Caterina. The room was comfortable and the view breathtaking. Lorenza was delightful and made us feel very welcome. ... We were only there one night, much to our dismay. Next time we will stay longer. We were lucky enough to have a room with a balcony which was an added bonus! Breakfast was even more enjoyable eaten on the balcony. Our breakfast was delivered to our room and the cappuccino's were still hot upon arrival to our room.
... Check out was quick and easy. ... Warm, clean, comfortable with an incomprable view. The garden beautiful and wecoming. Breakfast was excellent, especially on our balcony. The walk into old Siena was easy even though it was uphill. We will return!

We had trouble finding the hotel, but if we had purchased a street map of Siena it would have helped. We relied on the brown hotel directions by the side of the road in the end. ... We had a fantastic stay. This is a superb place to stay, just a short walk from one of the city gates. We will return and recommend it to our friends and family. ... The garden was exceptionally nice and you might want to highlight this more in your description. This was our 3rd visit to Santa Caterina. We always enjoy our stays there very much. The graciousness of the staff is always appreciated. ... This is the first time we have visited when it was warm enough to have breakfast in the garden. It was a wonderful beginning to each day, with the lovely Tuscan valley below and eating in an exquisitely cared for garden.
... I was not the one who checked out for us; but eveything went quite smoothly. ... For those visitors who come from an urban environment, the lovely garden could be emphasized more, as well as the view from the rooms at the back of the hotel.
Also, this hotel is one of the most immaculately kept hotels I've ever stayed in. It is quite a pleasure.
When arriving by car, it is easy to miss the hotel just prior to the corner, and then you are in a 'right turn only' lane, that takes one considerably out of the way.
Our room was charming, and it was a pleasure to have cross ventilation in a corner room; however, the bathroom was quite small; I think it would be difficult to maneuver in for people with large physiques. ... While I typically deal directly with the hotels I visit, it is good to know that your service provides access to hotels (such as Santa Caterina) that are such a pleasure to visit. I would use your service when I'm looking for a hotel in a different location in Italy. ... Charming, small hotel with attention to detail. An extraordinary view from certain rooms in the back of the hotel, and the pleasures of a beautiful garden for breakfast. Excellent location to avoid driving inside Siena, just outside the walls of Siena and only a brief, shaded walk into the core of the town.

The building is beautiful. The breakfasts were bountiful and can be eaten in the lovely breakfast room or the patio overlooking Tuscany. The staff also gave us great ideas on car excursions to other Tuscany hill towns. ... They assisted us in finding the rental car drop off location. ... It's about a 15 minute walk to the Il Campo area...might be challenging for people with physical challenges. On the other hand, we were happy to be outside the city walls...Sienna is very dense (and a bit dark) inside the walls. ... Beautiful, old world, nice rooms, great breakfasts. Would stay there again.

The directions to the hotel should be more clear. Specifically, for those travellers coming in from Chianti, the directions should tell one how to get from the north of Siena to the South.
The map on the website is useless. ... Overall, the website was an excellent resource on the hotels in Tuscany. Reservations were simple and easy to get. I would recommend the website to anyone traveling to Tuscany.
We thoroughly enjoyed the hotel. ... The hotel was quaint and beautiful. The outdoor garden was a wonderful place to have breakfast and the views of the countryside were magnificent.
Privacy was a bit of a problem. Because the walls were so thin, it was possible to hear all conversations in the adjacent rooms.

We arrived in Sienna by train. The cab driver knew exactly where the hotel was located and drove us there promptly. ... I was a little surprised by the loft bedroom. The guests who wrote in had mentioned that some stayed in a loft, so I had been forewarned. We are in our 70's and often get up at night. I can't imagine being able to do this 10 years from now.
