When grandma Sestilia and Grandpa Pietro lived there, the hamlet of San Benedetto was farm along the banks of the Egola river. But now that Luciana and Sandro Masi have moved there from the city, it has become a little garden of Eden; a real paradise for those who can never get their fill of fields, flowers, sunshine, crickets and nightingales. |
Today, the villa of San Benedetto, the famer's home and the barns have been transformed into guest houses, divided into 15 comfortable apartments lovingly furnished, for who wants a relaxing vacation. The park of 4 hectares enriched by bouganville, lemon trees and hidden swimming pools in the middle of the vineyards, guarantee total tranquility. |
Moreover, the old cellars of the farm are now "Casa Masi": a "trattoria" with old walls built by expert hands using stones taken from the Egola river, where Luciana and Sandro present traditional home cooking using only fresh local ingredients, varying according to the season. Worthy of this delicious cooking are the 150 top tuscan wines Sandro personally takes care of with great passion. |
Borgo San Benedetto is located in the commune of Montaione, a little town in the province of Florence, from where in less than one hour's drive you can visit the beautiful cities of San Gimignano, Volterra, Siena, Pisa, Lucca or drive into the Chianti area or along the mediterrean coast. Lying on the top of a hill, Montaione is located right in the heart of Tuscany and the surrounding landscape is characterized by vineyards and olive trees, as well as extended woods. Looking around you frequently see cypresses, once used to mark the borders of the estates, either isolated or in rows along the country roads to shade wayfarers or even used as windbreakers. |
The beautiful country house blends perfectly with the landscape scenery and offers many opportunities to know and live this wild environment. The peculiarity of the territory allows short and long walks, or even rides, along trekking courses, through green, cool woods, areas with Mediterranean bush, or on the rolling cultivated hills. |
