nearness to local facilities - shops, restaurants, market, etc. - yet quietly located just 'out of town' excellent breakfast in annexe building - may not be suitable for disabled very friendly and helpful staff swimming pool not open until end of May ... excellent website - good pictures - and speedy response from all hotels contacted ... A small friendly hotel with lovely views of the Tuscan hills; our spacious room was in the oldest part of the former farmhouse building, but with all mod cons; there is a welcoming reception/lounge area where the staff soon recognised our peculiar fondness for te con latte freddo!

Our initial flight was delayed and we missed our connection and had to be re-routed via Rome. I emailed the delay from the airport. We arrived at the hotel at 23.30 hours and I found the receptionist about to post a welcome notice on the door with instructions as to what to do - I was very impressed! ... We could not have been made welcome and were highly satisfied with all aspects of our stay. ... We have already recommended it to friends as a calm, well situated family run hotel where you will be made very welcome.

Extremely nice and helpful staff. Helped me make train reservation as I do not speak Italian. Breakfast much better than similar hotels. ... Easy, secure and had good experience with it. ... Beautifully restored 13-14th century buildings set in a picturesque and quiet setting. Good central location to explore Chianti. Very comfortable and spacious rooms, good breakfast, friendly staff.

No, no other details. ... Very quaint hotel, with fabulous views of the Chianti region. Also very clean, with very friendly staff. Had the weather been warmer, we would have enjoyed the pool and the gardens around the hotel. Very enjoyable stay.

We had absolutely no problems at all and found the welcome very warm and friendly. ... I think the website was very accurate I know it is difficult to capture the charm of the hotel and the Castellina area on a website but we were not disappointed. It is essential to have a car, particularly in the off-season ... The only problem we had checking out was that we wished we had stayed longer. ... The rooms are really charming, I know you do say that. I think the feeling you get is that it is a cross between a hotel and a bed & breakfast, and I mean that in a positive way. It is a rural hotel with the charm and warmth of a country bed & breakfast. ... Relaxing, friendly and a wonderful place to use as a base when taking day trips throughout Tuscany, an easy place to live.

good staff, especially the maids and the lovely lady who served breakfast. ... Lovely property, nice staff, very clean, very rustic yet the amenities like the bathrooms etc were modern and efficient. ... A wonderful property. Stick to the country roads and enjoy what is known as 'Dolce Far Niente.'

We were expected and greeted by name. ... Clean, comfortable; beautiful location; privacy was maintained; quiet. ... I've already recommended others to consider the hotel for their travel. ... The location is more remote than I gathered from the website, but for my wife and I that was better. The arrival route from any direction was through gorgeous countryside, but still relatively convenient to the major tour centers. There was much to experience in Castelina in Chianti for an afternoon. ... A totally enjoyable, relaxing place to unwind after a day of touring.

Wonderful Hotel, we enjoyed it so much during our first 5 day stay, we booked it for 1 additional day. Would definately recommend the hotel to our friends, and the web site was very user friendly. ... Wonderful, like 'Shangri-la', an oasis in Central Tuscany!

Everyone was extremely helpful on our arrival. The hotel name on the street sign was different than the hotel name we had, it was similar, but different. Because of that, we drove by the street once before realizing our error. ... The hotel was wonderful and the town was better than expected. I would highly recommend the hotel. I wish we would have stayed there for more than one night. The woman working in the breakfast room was very nice and helpful. ... The hotel is within walking distance of excellent restaraunts and that the town is very nice and easy to get around. ... It is a charming hotel with a very helpful staff within walking distance of good restaraunts and the town. The rooms are large and clean with large bathrooms. It is very quiet, I could not hear other guests. There is a nice patio where you can enjoy a drink before dinner. The breakfast is very good. It was the perfect Tuscan Hotel!

BOOKING EXPERIENCE I was extremely impressed that having tried to book one hotel via your website - it was full for the dates we required - I received seven or eight offers of accommodation from other hotels within 48 hours. This networking was brilliant and saved much time..... and resulted in the excellent Salivolpi. ... This is a warm and friendly hotel. The staff could not have been more helpful and pleasant. The room and facilities were scrupulously clean and cleaned perfectly every day. Location excellent. I wish people had not been permitted to smoke during breakfast as this inconvenienced non smokers and did not make for a pleasant breakfast experience. Breakfast offerings the same every day without variety. ... A warm and friendly hotel in a pleasant rural setting and within walking distance of the centre of the attractive village of Castellina. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. The room and facilities were scrupulously clean. I am not surprised people come and stay here again and again!

We followed directions given by the hotel but still got a little lost until one becomes acquainted with the roads. Rooms were ready and the staff was aware of our arrival. ... Our room (#15) was large and charming but not necessarily quiet because the windows faced the parking lot and the entrance. Cars that were parking late or leaving early in the morning could be heard. The rooms could benefit by a fan. Although evening cooled off, the room took awhile to cool and could feel hot. Bathrooms were spotless and cleaning was always good but the placement of the toilet was difficult. Someone who cannot negotiate small spaces due to health or physical reasons should not take this room. Breaksfast was a favorite experience. Pool was only available until 6 PM and was highly chlorinated -- felt like being in a wash of whites. The vineyard across the street was picturesque and the town was a short walk away. Castellina was a charming town with good restaurants. ... Charming, good location for touring the region, clean, delightful breakfast, pleasant staff.

The view was not what the pictures showed. That was the only negative aspect of the hotel. It was a lovely hotel other than that. ... Quaint small hotel in the Tuscan hills. Great little town with good restaurants and shopping. Great location but disappointed in the view from the hotel.

Room to room noise is high. The bed was a foam mattress with a sheet of plywood under it(very uncomfortable).Otherwise a very nice and enjoyable stay. ... Better directions. We never saw a sign for via Fiorentina, and no mention was made in the directions about the brown sign for Salivolpi,or the fact that the hotel sign does not say 'Colle Etrusco Salivolpi' which is the hotel's name on the website.we nmanaged to find the hotel by asking locals in our chopped-up Italian. ... Very peaceful and quiet.

We thought it would be a bit more 'countryside', the new residential area disturbed the wiew a little (and there was a dog barking almost all the time). In spite of that, Hotel Colle Etrusco Salivolpi was a nice place to stay at: lovely room, clean and a very good breakfast.
