 The medieval history of the frontier area between the great Tuscan rivals, Florence and Siena, seeps out La Ripa very own stones because the edifice dates back to the thirteenth century, when it was fortified monastery. If you come from "A1 North" leave the motorway at "Firenze Certosa" and then enter the high communication road SI - FI (Autopalio) exiting at "Poggibonsi Nord".
If you come from "A1 South" leave the motorway at "Val di Chiana" and follow the directions to Siena and then to Firenze up to "Poggibonsi Nord".
From Poggibonsi Nord
Follow the directions San Gimignano, Z.I. Fosci and Certaldo for approx. 2 km up to the "PAM" supermarket (on the left). Turn to the right in direction of San Gimignano and, at the second round about, turn to the right till "Ulignano".
At the junction to Ulignano follow the indication "LA RIPA" as per the road sign "STRUTTURE RICETTIVE" turning first to the right and later, after 100 m about, to the left.
Continue towards the top of the hill for 1,4 km; there are 3 farmhouses: "the last one to the right is La Ripa". Stop at the 2nd large iron gate and ring the bell: you are arrived.
