The estate Staying at La Ripa soaking up the peace and the beauty of a lovely natural setting and admiring the handsome stonework of the walls, it is easy to understand why somebody could decide to return here every year moving away from the bustling life of the city. |
La Ripa, at an altitude od 533.35 ft, has a lovely natural hilltop setting approx. 2 kms from the nearest village (Ulignano), 1.3 of which is "white road". It is one of the most fascinating building in the area of San Gimignano and also a small farm of 4 hectars conducted at wines, olives and wood, where you may have the opportunity to purchaise wine and olive oil made in the estate.

Old fortified monastery, on a branch of the Francigena Road that from "Certaldo" brings to "Poggibonsi" and then to south in direction of Rome, this farmhouse was longly restored and now has 4 apartments, one of which for the owners with their adult son and a couple of setters. A lot of artistry and passion has gone into the creation of these apartments where you can find not only pretty rural antiques and beamed ceilings, but also Artemide and Flos lamps and drawings and prints of a famous contemporary artist: the Signora's father |
A thick and high hedge of privet, laurel and strawberry tree, separates the property from the "white road" and guarentees peace and privacy to the whole property and specifically to the area of the kidney-shaped swimming pool which is settled on a grassy slope with vines and umbrella pines above and a necklace of mature woods below.

The medieval history of the frontier area between the great Tuscan rivals, Florence and Siena, seeps out La Ripa very own stones because the edifice dates back to the thirteenth century, when it was fortified monastery. The lovely views provide more mediaval echoes, with the hilltop village of "Vico d'Elsa" peeping over the trees which fringe the lawn below the pool and the towers of San Gimignano doing the same from the other side of the property |
