We were in Italy for two weeks and this was the best of all the hotels. The room was first class and the dinner was great. ... I would strongly recommend, and have already done so to two friends.

WE ARE THINKING THE FAMILLY AND ME FOR 4 STARS HOTEL THE CLEANING OF THE ROOM MUST BE MORE THAN ONE TIME PER DAY, AND DEFFENTLY EUERY DAY.THE SAME ALSO FOR TOWELS AND ...

The arrival was fine and we were showed around and introduced to everything. The only somewhat lonely feeling we had was why there were not more poeple around. That got better towards the end of the week. ... Overall we were very happy with our stay at Relais La Soleia and can recommend it to anyone, our friends etc., if they realize that the location is relatively far off. We were served excellent meals for dinner and appreciated the conversation with the gardener, who keeps everything in very good order. For long evenenings or rainy days (we didn't have any) it might be nice to have a sort of reading room where one can read a book. ... The builder and the cook were also there to see us of. It was a very friendly asmosphere ... I mentioned a reading room or something similar - in German one might call it 'Ein Aufenthaltsraum' other than the own room, sort of as wishful thinking. ... Much as I have done above - very nice!

IT WAS NOT LISTED IN THE ACCOMMODATIONS THAT THERE WAS A CHARGE FOR TOWELS AT THE POOL. WE TRIED TO HAVE THIS CHARGE REMOVED BUT THE OWNER WOULD NOT. THIS WAS ALSO A PROBLEM FOR OTHER GUESTS WHO WERE NOT AWARE OF THIS CHARGE, WHICH CAME TO 40 EUROS. THIS SHOULD BE CORRECTED IN PRINT. ... EXCEPT FOR THE ABOVE MENTIONED, IT WAS A GREAT EXPERIENCE. ... PHONE LINES WERE DOWN AT CHECK OUT SO WE COULD NOT PAY WITH CREDIT. ... AS STATED ABOVE, ADDITIONAL CHARGES SHOULD BE LISTED AHEAD OF TIME AND WERE NOT. ALSO, IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT THE POOL IS NOT HEATED. ... A WONDERFUL LOCATION THAT I WOULD RECOMEND IF THE ABOVE COMMENTS WERE INCLUDED IN THE WRITE UP.

Donato was very helpful in expediting our arrival and in taking us on a tour of the property to point out all of the amenities. ... We stayed in a suite for 3 people - the furnishings were beautiful and the suite was exceptionally clean. My clients all raved about the rooms, the pool, and the meals, which were delicious (I'm a tour operator and brought 14 people to Relais La Solaia for 3 days). ... Checkout was well-coordinated. ... Fantastic property and I'll certainly stay here again. Highly recommended at any time of year.

There was no Porterage service and my husband had to carry are bags to the room by himself. No trolley was offered. ... I was under the impression that the Relais La Solaia was Child Friendly, since they included a baby cot in their room rate, mentioned available babysitting, and stated they had a Children's Pool. There wasn't a Children's pool. It was my mistake to think they claimed to be 'Child Friendly' on their Profile Page; after reviewing so many different hotels, I probably mis-read.
The management did not seem very friendly with us and our 2 year old daughter, especially at dinner. I felt bad that we were there with our 2 year old daughter. I understand their perspective, and wished that I had paid more attention to the hotel profiles and would've chosen one that was warm and friendly to families. We felt a bit uncomfortable during our 8 night stay eating at their nice restaurant so many nights.
The management also didn't tell us that the only road to the Hotel was closing for construction one morning at 9:15am. We found out from the nice waitress at breakfast at 8:55am and scrambled to leave before it closed. The next day, we had to ask if it were closing for that day as well. It would've been nice if someone would've told us in advance so we could make plans accordingly.
The front desk managers didn't tell us about other restaurants in Monte San Savino and didn't know when Sunday Mass times were. I would think they'd have that information on hand.
The hotel room and grounds were very nice and we enjoyed our day trips to 6 different medieval villages from their excellent location.
I feel bad writing these subjective comments - as an American currently living in the Middle East, I respect differences in cultures. We've stayed in a 4 star hotel in Fiji and the hotel employees loved our daughter and couldn't do enough to make her happy. And, we've stayed in a 4 star hotel in the US that was very adult oriented and ignored us and her. Since this was my first trip to Italy, I'm assuming Italian Culture is more reserved towards families. ... Pool was closed for winter - not heated. Rooms do not have bathrobes or alarm clocks. ... Very good location. Nice suite room. Beautiful views. Quiet. Good food in the restaurant. Nice pool in the summer.

Restaurant standard poor - food and service not good enough for any hotel especially an expensive one. We had one meal and then ate out. Breakfast was poor and limited as well. ... Stunning hilltop location, new buildings finished to a high standard in traditional style. Let down by very low quality of food and service in restaurant - not acceptable for the price of the room.
