Typical Italian house with lots character.
The rooms are not large but have high ceilings.
...
This is a typical Italian small B&B hotel with lots of character.
Superb service wonderful breakfast.
Amazingly lots of places to eat in November in this beautiful italian village.
Much better than souless chain hotels or tired city hotels that are twice the price.

Try to avoid the wine festivities. It makes the quiet village of Montecarlo a very noisy place to be at night without any added value.

The hostess met me as I pulled up and was very helpful in getting me settled in. The Hotel was gorgeous and the hostess was not only polite but friendly and kind.

I can't say enough good things about the staff at Antica Casa Dei Rassicurati. They were warm, friendly, informative, and kind. I felt well looked after! They let me use their internet facilities and helped me get reservations and directions when I needed them. I felt as though I made friends with them. I would definitely recommend this B&B!!
...
I really felt I got a good deal for the money, especially since the accomodation were more beautiful and comfortable than I imagined they would be.
...
No additional comments, I think the web description is great.
...
A delightful old building with comfortable accomodations and attentive hosts nestled in a charming medieval setting! The town offers as much as the hotel, and you feel like a welcome addition during your stay. I was sad to leave and would definitely go back!

This is my first time obtaining lodging via the internet. I was pleasantly surprised and thoroughly pleased. We were welcomed and shown the rooms for our approval. What nice ladies.
...
If you like the small villages and quiet, this is your place. We stayed 3 nights and wished for more. Lovely people, great breakfasts at our leisure, and the town itself bears spending time. I will definitely recommend this to others although I don't want it to be too well known for fear I can't get a reservation again. :)
...
We hated to leave. The staff let us use their computer for getting tickets to museums in Firenze and keeping in touch with our next B & B which was very helpful for us.
...
We didn't do too well at first finding the road off the autobahn to Montecarlo. We turned left instead of turning right ... at that point, it isn't marked too well. So perhaps a little additional help in directions would be good. We always drive with very detailed country maps - otherwise we may have spent more time looking for Antica Casa dei Rassicurati. But it was worth the time lost!!!!
...
If you wish the quietness of a small hilltown, the friendliness of family, the beauty of true Italy, then this is the place for you. The town has everything ... from a wonderful church, to fabulous views, to great food, to small shops in which to purchase anything you could need. I will definitely return.

The arrival was good. We were greeted and immediately given excellent recommendations on what to see in the area.
...
The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. We extended our planned stay due to the hospitality and great overall experience we had.
...
Very easy.
...
The location is in a quaint little area that is central to many of the most popular areas: a rental car is essential. The town is perfect for anyone looking for a quiet and relaxing base to tour the region from. The area is also packed with wineries.
...
I would highly recommend this B&B to all of our friends. It’s an ideal starting point when visting Tuscany – fly into Pisa and drive 25 minutes Montecarlo. When we return to Italy we will definitely be visiting the Antica Casa dei Rassicurati again and plan to spend more time in the area.

Very attentive reception
...
The village and surroundings were spectacular.
The breakfasts were very nice with all home baking
...
Ideal place to stay on first or last night as easily accesible for Pisa airport off the beaten track.
One night would not be long enough to appreciate the area.

We identified the Casa solely from the online picture. It may have been slightly easier to have a little map once we walked into the village. But it was still a delightful experience, just one a 'spoiled' American was not used to.
...
While quite small, the room had everthing we needed for a comfortable stay.
...
It felt as if we were leaving a friend's home...Marta stood at the door and waved goodbye as we got into the car and drove off!
...
Somewhere I had lost my return itinerary, some souvenirs and my trip journal. Someone returned them to the Casa and Marta called ahead to our next destination to let me know and then she express mailed them to me in time for my return home. This was way above and beyond anything I would have expected.
...
It was exactly as we pictured Tuscany would be...a scene straight from 'A Walk in the Clouds.' Absolutely a dream!!!

...
The staff were very helpful in terms of our forward travel.
...
The bathrooms are very small ... guests should not expect a 5-star bedroom ... what you get is old world charm and atmosphere.
...
Our stay at Antica Casa dei Rassicurati in Montecarlo was a fabulous experience. The staff were brilliant and extremely helpful. Montecarlo is a gem of a hill-top town that I would recommend anyone to visit. The restaurants were excellent. A place to remember.

Signposting was not good, and so we missed the turn the first time. The girl who met us to give us the key did not speak a word of english, which made it difficult to get any information regarding breakfast, local attractions, or directions.
...
The location was superb. The outlook was relaxing and as we had expected, although there was no view from the room.
...
The location is not a village as such, but a small group of dwellings, so there are no services or facilities other than at San Gimignano. But if, as we were, you are looking for a quiet and peacful place to relax away from the crowds, and enjoy the beauty of Tuscany, then this is the place.

The epitomy of what we were looking for in Tuscany.

Our total experience (arrival and the rest of our time there) is summed up in the comments below.
...
We were thrilled with the Antica Casa. It was more like a home than a hotel. The place was wonderful, and the ladies who ran it were absolutely charming. We were there to celebrate a wedding anniversary, and they even went to the trouble of making a special cake for us and giving us a gift. We loved Montecarlo and the Antica Casa, and the whole experience made our holiday extremely memorable. The reason I say it was 'better than on the web site' is not because the web site is lacking - in fact, it was very good. It was just that there was no way that the web site could capture the charm of the place and the people.
...
Please feel free to quote our positive comments, should you so wish.
...
We have already enthused about it to many friends. We would recommend it to anybody as a superb place to relax and enjoy the beauty of Tuscany. We intend to return.

Upon our arrival, we were greeted warmly by Miriam, one of the owners, who not only helped us get settled in our room but offered help in finding a good restaurant. After a long flight and layover in Paris before arriving at Antica Casa, we were especially appreciative of her kindness.

...
All three of the owners were gracious and helpful during our stay. They made every effort to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable.Their access to the internet was a nice bonus, enabling us to contact our families to tell them about our arrival. They also were kind to provide material about points of interest in the area.
...
We were sad to leave!

I think it provides a good explanation of what a guest will experience.

This is an absolutely wonderful B&B in an beautiful old town in a spectacular Tuscan setting. The ladies who run it are charming, and the whole place has a lovely, homely atmosphere. It is one of our all-time favourite B&B's. Our stay was just perfect, as it was the first time we visited (in 2004). We have already told a few friends about it, and will tell a lot more.

was lovely.

I think the website should offer a better
road map because many of the towns listed
are small and not on regualr maps. As
well, the town of Montecarlo is not
mentioned on road signs until you are
very close to it.

Miriam, one of our charming hostesses, made
us feel very welcome.
...
We thoroughly enjoyed staying here. The 3
women who operate the B&B are delightful and
always anxious to be of help. The room was
very comfortable and the breakfasts were
lovely. Our only concern was with the shower
'grates,' as mentioned below in the 'Your
review' section.
...
A deightful, reasonably priced B&B.
...
Perhaps you should mention that the shower
floor grates can get slippery when soapy
water gets under them. We removed ours after
my husband slipped and fell! Fortunately, he
was not hurt - amazing that he did not hit
anything on the way down to the floor.
...
This is a delightful and reasonably priced
accommodation, very convenient for visiting
Lucca and the surrounding countryside. Watch
out for the floor grates, which can slip
when wet and soapy underneath!

our car broke down on route from Rome. Marta was accommodating to wait for us as we arrived about 1 hour after the reception time closed

Montecarlo is not easy to get to, and finding the B&B was not very easy; wish the directions were clearer
...
Marta again was very helpful with communication with our rental car company and directions from Italian relatives who were coming to me us at the Bed and Breakfast.

Our one suggestion for improvement. The bath towels were very thin and small

If you are looking for a base to explore Tuscany, especially the Lucca and Pisa area during the day and day trips to Florence, staying in Montecarlo is great. No cost to park, quiet hill top town with some nice restaurants and wine to sample at night. The simplicity, value and resourcefulness of the staff of Antica Casa dei Rassicurati was perfect for our 4 day stay.

The website allowed me to select a room with
private bath. While we had a private bath,
the website did not indicate it was down the
hall between two other rooms. The bathroom
was not up to the standard found at other
places we stayed in Italy. Also, the website
did not indicate the room was on the third
floor.
...
Photos on the website made it appear that
the hotel had an outdoor courtyard, but it
was really a public area across the street
from the hotel.
...
The atmosphere and town were very pleasant
and Antica's breakfast was great. However, I
would only stay again if the room had a
private bath and not one down the hall.
Since your website did not make this clear,
I would be inclined to book directly with
the hotel to ensure I could get one of the
rooms with a private bath IN the room, not
down the hall.
