The receptionist(owner)was more than polite, he also gave us printouts about restaurants near Poggio D'Oro and open markets.

Nice and clean place, with all the comforts that you could ask for a kitchen.Very friendly personnel, gives you all the details you need for the surrounding area. I would definately recommend it to a friend.

We received further instructions from the owner of the property on how to get there, this was very helpful and we had no problem in getting there. The property was fabulous, and the owner very obliging and friendly.

Gorgeous location, very friendly and helpful owner. Close to Florence and other Tuscan villages. Our cottage was very well appointed, and in a very scenic location. Also very private in relation to other cottages on the property.

Wonderful stay, stunning views, close to most Tuscany attractions, spacious apartment, beautifly decorated & equipped in all necessary stuff, very clean. Pleasand swimming pool with views over Chianti hills.
Marco - the owner - very helpful, polite and smiling.
I definitely recommend Tuscany holidays here!

Marco Bianchini is the perfect host. You really feel welcome when you arrive and within 30 minutes he had given us all info needed for our stay, and more.

At Poggio d'Oro you get the comfort of always knowing that if you need anything for your stay or any info on Tuscany, it is always there for you through the Management.
You don't always get that feeling in Italy.

We enjoyed our stay very much, hope to return someday, and will recommend Poggio d'Oro to friends -- in fact, have done so already. The setting is wonderful, and in particular we had a stunning view from our elevated terrace. Marco could not have been nicer or more accommodating. We were apprehensive about bugs and snakes, but a tiny lizard was the only 'critter' we saw. Oh, and some fireflies after dark.

Poggio d'Oro was the ideal Tuscan holiday spot for us, a cozy place to relax after pounding the pavement and standing in museum lines in Rome. Even our teenage girls were happy there. Smack in the middle of Chianti country, it consists of several villas/apartments in a peaceful rural setting amid rolling hills and luxuriant foliage. We had a spectacular view of the hills from our terrace. Good location (halfway between Firenze and Siena, 6 km off the autostrade), comfortable apartment with full kitchen and nice bedrooms, refreshing swimming pool, signs posted to guide the way in, helpful and friendly staff. We felt we got excellent value for our vacation dollars!
By the way, a rental car is essential. Be prepared for some extended driving on twisty roads if you want to visit some hill towns or wineries.

Think the instructions were based on Florence and we came into Pisa. We did get further instructions from the owner but would have been good to know how many kilometres you stayed on certain roads etc.

1. Would have been good to have a barbecue next to the property. Because this was a communal barbecue not near your property we did not use it.
2. Our farmhouse run along side a private property. This property had two guard dogs that tended to be very noisy during the night.They did tend to wake you up.

One comment which people should be aware of but not about Poggio d'Oro. Its about the supermarkets. If you cannot read Italian then you would not be aware that the supermarkets do not take credit cards, only cash. We had this problem first night and so did various other people. It can be very embarrassing.

Poggio d'Oro is an excellent place to stay.
Because of its location most places we wanted to vist were only 15-45 minuts drive,
The farmhouse was clean and well equipped.
The view from the farmhouses was outstanding. The owners friendly and helpful.

We did arrive early and were unable to get into the property until a little later but we didn't have to wait as long as the stated check in time. This didn't cause us a problem as we took the time to do our shopping. The gentleman was very nice and apologised for the fact that we couldn't get in early. This in no way caused any problems.

We would certainly recommend the site to friends. The site was quiet, with beautiful views and within easy driving distance of the obvious tourist attractions as well as some beautiful medieval villages which were recommended to us by the staff at Poggio d'Oro. We would certainly stay there again when visiting that part of Italy (that is of course if they will have us). A really lovely holiday!!!!

I cannot imagine coming to Tuscany and staying anywhere other than Poggio d'Oro. It was much more than we expected and the most wonderful experience.

Include the fact that it is centrally located making it very easy to get anywhere in Tuscany. We were also provided with a very helpful list showing the markets in each town.

The most perfect spot for anyone who wants to be surrounded by the beauty of Tuscany, the serenity of the hills and valleys, a peaceful walk through vineyards and countryside, a villa that is equipped and modern while still retaining a rustic and gracious flavor and management (Thank you Marco) who was an excellent host dedicated to making his guests feel at home! It exceeded all of our expectations and we cannot imagine staying anywhere else in Tuscany.

There are several towns with the same name in the area. The directions given were fine, but without them you could be in trouble.

Close to main road.
Negative/ S Donato is very little village. There isn`t many places to go out for dinner. You need a car!
Negative/ The kitchen corner (Chianti ap)is tiny, no place to prepare food. Probably OK for the coples but not for family with children.
