We were greeted by Monica. She was very friendly and helpful. ... We loved Villa Il Poggiale. It was very well situated for travel throughout all the towns in Tuscany as well as Florence and Siena. Our room and bathroom were very spacious and beautifully decorated. Most important, the room and bathroom were very clean.
All the staff were very friendly, very helpful and professional. Katerina was an extremely charming hostess and very helpful in planning interesting day trips as well as suggesting excellent restaurants. We will return. ... Check out was very smooth. ... The only negative would be the road noise in certain rooms and the lack of view in the suite which I was well aware of when I booked our room. I wanted the patio even if it had no view. ... Il Poggiale is a very special, beautiful and elegant villa. The staff are very helpful, friendly and responsive. They will help with everything including mapping out sightseeing trips, dinner reservations and general information about the area and local events (such as markets and shows). It is very clean with well decorated bedrooms and sitting areas. The bathrooms are large, very well lit and clean. It is very easy to get to and well located for sightseeing in Tuscany, Siena and Florence. It is also close to all major roads. Breakfast is a real treat in the lovely breakfast room or out on the terrace with the fabulous panaramic view. Among many breakfast choices delicious cakes and pastries are baked daily. The pool area is lovely. Upon request they will prepare a light lunch so that if you wish, you can 'hang out' for the day and enjoy this gorgeous property. We loved it and would certainly return.

I highly recommend GPS if you rent a car as the roads in Italy can be confusing; but I arrived fine by using the GPS system. The villa looked EXACTLY as it did in photos on line and everyone was very helpful and pleasant upon arrival. FREE parking is a plus!!! Easy access to all other sight-seeing locations in Tuscany and to/from airports. ... The food and service were exceptional! ... I had to leave very early in the morning so it was nice to be accommodated for my check-out the night before. ... The setting was stunning. Absolutely beautiful! My room was very clean and nicely decorated. I have been to many hotels during travels abroad and most of the time, they 'don't look like the brochure' -- Villa il Poggiale was so beautiful, in a most amazing setting -- set on a lovely hilltop surrounded by vineyards , and just what I expected. It's exactly what you think of when you think of Tuscany! I will definitely be back!

the staff at the villa could not have been nicer or more helpful. we were greated at the door and taken to our room, helped with our luggage, given complete explanations about the routine. and the room was exactly what we had asked for. ... we had a wonderful time, loved the atmosphere, the views, and the entire experience. ... we had a wonderful time. the villa was everything we wanted and expected and more. cannot wait until we can go back again.

We had an unpleasant experience with our airline. As a result we did not arrive at Villa Il Poggiale until almost 1:00am. Upon our arrival at that late date, there was someone to accomodate us. ... Our stay at the Villa Il Poggiale was perfect. The staff was kind, helpful and very accomodating. We could'nt ask for a more pleasent stay. I highly recommend the Villa. ... Very efficient! ... No! ... Picture Perfect!

Very peaceful, relaxed and romantic. Would definately recommend you choose a suite, which are very spacious and beautifully restored & furnished. The views and the pool are lovely. A good place to be situated as it's not too far from Florence but easy to pick up the roads to San Gimiagno and other Chianti towns. San Casciano is only 5 mins away by car and is handy for restaurants & browsing around the shops. The staff at Il Villa Poggiale were very friendly, helpful and unobstrusive. Wished we could have stayed longer & would certainly stay there again.

The people from the villa were incredibly welcoming and friendly. ... The place is absoultely lovely, pretty, and peaceful. It is clean, very recently renovated (fresh paint, etc.) and has lots of little thoughtful details. Beautiful views, great pool, lots of places to sit and relax. ... Not as problem. ... Renovated last year in preparation for top quality accomodations. Many little nooks and places to relax. You never feel like you are forced to share you space with others - even when completely full, it doesn't feel crowded. ... Caterina, Monica and Gemma were incredibly friendly, but not overly so, and detail oriented. They made us feel very welcome is what seemed more like a visit to an aristocrat's well kept country villa (without the presence of the owner). The place itself is magically charming - sweeping views, large old trees, beautifully furnished rooms and sitting areas (and many sitting areas), and lovely gardens and pool. Couldn't have been better!

The entire staff at the Villa was not only polite, but helpful and sincere. ... The staff was more than helpful and very sincere. Every need was met with prompt attention and seemingly effortless action. The day manager, Monica, corresponded with me for several months as we made arrangements to accomodate our large party. We plan on returning as often as our lives allow. ... The Villa provided us with both comfort and an elegance that was welcoming. We felt as if we were staying in someone's home that we had visited many times.

Beautiful villa. Warm and friendly staff. It felt like we were with family. Doug and I will be back. ... Very enjoyable ... not a problem ... Bicycles on property were offered if we wanted to use them. No mention of a fee for use at that time. At check out there was a charge of 10E per bike. This was a bit of a surprise. Staff should inform guests ahead of time regarding extra charges. ... Beautiful, romantic, relaxing, warm, friendly.

VERY friendly manager, Katarina - she made all the difference to our stay. The personal touch is what makes the difference in so many instances - definetly here as well. ... Our room had a slight mildew smell but the property is very old and our room was a converted cellar or stable so that should be expected I guess. That was our ONLY complaint and it wasn't enough of a concern to even mention. However, if any of us were allergic to mildew it would've been a problem. Also, the villa is right next to a reasonably busy road and our room did have some road noise. The upside of the location of the villa though is that you don't have to drive for 20 minutes on some gravel / side road to just get to the main road. In our book, the road noise was a good trade off for the convenience factor. Also, the common areas, such as lawn area and pool area were completely quiet, peaceful and beautiful. ... Positive: There is a restaurant within walking distance which is nice. Lot's of common areas to enjoy. Positive: Right off the main road, no long gravel road to drive on for 20 minutes just to get to a main road - this is nice if you're using the villa as a center point for day trips, as well as going out for dinner, etc. Breakfast was excellent - the staff was very attentive to keeping plenty of fresh food out.

We got very lost trying to find the villa. It would be helpful if mileage was included from turn to turn and the directions were more specific. ... The air conditioning was not working well during our stay. Otherwise, we loved our apartment, the villa, and the pool. The staff is wonderful. The location is excellent even though there is a bit of road noise. We would definitely stay there again and would recommend the villa to others. ... Villa Il Poggiale is an elegant B&B with a wonderful staff. It is well located for exploring the hill towns of Tuscany, though you may choose to stay on the property to enjoy the lovely pool and surroundings.

it did work out ok,but the girl that was in the office at the time we arrived, couldnt check us in,and we had to wait approx 30min until someone could..once that was settled, the room wasnt the one we had booked..we had requested overlooking the garden, and not on the roadway...but the room was lovely, and they did change us to another room after the first 3nights...it was just fine and both room were lovely. ... my friend and i loved our stay, everything was excellent, and we wouldnt want to stay anywhere else if/when we return..the staff was very helpful and couldnt do enough for us..my friend got quite ill 2 days before we were leaving, and they wanted to help in any way they could, make her special meals,etc...we loved everything about the property, and will recommend it to everyone.we definately will go back. ... i was as smooth as could be,no issues,no surprises, went very well. ... as one of the most lovely b&b's i've ever stayed in,and i have stayed in many in north america...i would go back in a second.

The staff that greeted us was very helpful. ... Note my response to question 8. When I originally made my booking I specifically asked to not be on the road side of the villa. I recieved a response back saying I would not and rest assured my lodging would be quiet. That was not the case. I was very loud and street noise was prevalent. When we approached the staff, they gave us the option to move which would of split us up and put us into the basement of the Villa. Our overall experience was very nice but I have to say, I was disappointed in that I had specifically asked not to be on the road, I was assured I would not be and I was still put there with limited options. ... We checked out at 8:00am. There was no office staff at that time. ... Traffic noise.

Very welcoming and friendly ... Without doubt an excellent place. A little pricy but a fabulous experiance. Staff are so helpfull and friendly. The building is so classy and can be busy or tranquile dependant on you. A special mention for Monica who always presented herself with a smile and no question was too simple or complicated to spend time answering with genuine feeling. ... We left early morning and although the check out the night before was fine including a breakfast tray, the newly fitted electric front gates need some explanation. The car park is outside the gates and operating and timing are everything. I feel sure they will get it right but I can imagine some problems particularly with the older guests. I ended up having to climb over the wall once I had returned the key to the main building. It could be that I was just stupid! I will find out on our next visit. ... As this is an old house converted there are a lot of steps which does not suit everyone. Less able guest should be adviced. ... Quality, relaxing, traditional charm. Save up and have at least 3 days and take us too!
