We arrived about 2:30pm and Irena greeted us and invited us to have lunch in the dining room. It was about to close but she asked them to stay open to accomadate us. She was very helpful.
...
What a beautiful place! Not as close to Siena as stated (a few kilometers) but very nice. Irena is a gem, so helpful and pleasant. She arranged a wonderful tour of the Chianti winery and area. All 6 of us were impressed with this place, it has so much charm. I would love to come back when the weather is warmer so we could use the outdoor facilites.
...
A beautiful place in the country. We all loved it and wished it had been better weather so we could enjoy all the outdoor activites.

Very accommodating. We arrived after hours due to late flight and lost taxi driver. The restaurant was closed and we were starving. Within minutes of our arrival a bottle of wine and a tray of delicious sandwiches arrived at our door.
...
All of the staff were very friendly, polite, professional. The owners went overboard to see that we were enjoying our stay. They provided information for day trips and even drove us in a personal car to town to purchase groceries.
...
If future guests are worried about no air conditioner - no problem. We stayed in the hottest month (July) and the evening temps were very comfortible. Never missed the air conditioner.
...
Absolutely beautiful! Very romantic! The smell of lavendar was everywhere. A perfect blend between the old & new...The dining room was breath taking with the old stone and soft lighting. The layout of the 'apartments' was most interesting. Although we were celebrating our 23rd wedding anniversary and did not have children with us the families that were there with children seemed to be enjoying their stay as well. For those of you familiar with The Wizard of Oz - stepping out onto our private terrace that first morning was like Dorothy landing in Oz.

The reception was enormous. The owners wellcomed us enthusiasticly and showed us the resort.
...
The staff was not very alert. Almost every morning we had to ask for tea.
The kitchen was not what we expected and the menu was the same for the whole week. We spent the second week in a resort near Florence and the quality of the food was much better and more variety.
...
A beautiful luxury old resort, well transformed with a great pool and nice view on the hills.
We paid eur 900,- for the week including breakfast as low-season. I would consider the high-season price as too high.

Borgo Il Poggiaccio was the highlight of our trip. It is a magnificent place to stay----clean, simply and beautifully decorated and in the most serene, romantic and beautiful Tuscan setting. It was really more a tiny resort than a hotel and we enjoyed all the amenities. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the restaurant top notch. We wished we could have stayed there longer!!
...
Include more photos of the setting and restaurant area. The web site did not do it justice! We had anticipated using it as a base camp from which to explore Tuscany--but when we got there we hated to leave for the day trips we had planned!

My family and I loved Borgo Il Poggiaccio. We wished that we could have stayed longer than the 6 days that we planned. The house was very clean and cozy. But there is only one complaint that we have, the beds are not comfortable!
...
The reservations staff were very organized in preparing our check out and explained everything very well.

Had no problems getting there.
Felt welcomed from the moment we arrived. We were given a tour and the receptionist (also owner) spent plenty of time with us.
...
We adored Borgo Il Poggiaccio and would definitely go back. The property, facilities, rooms, and people were spectacular. The reception team spent a great deal of time with us, helping us to plan nice excursions and outings. The only slight disappointments were as follows:
- Your web site says all the rooms had fully outfitted kitchens and fire places. In fact, all the others did, but ours did not. (We had only a mini-fridge, not even a sink -- and certainly no oven.) This should have been made more clear.
-- The website talks about a piano bar, wine tasting nights and poolside barbeques. None of those took place during the week we were there. Some of it was because it was not quite 'high season', but still, this should have been specified.

-- The restaurant was spectacular but quite pricey. Too pricey, in fact, for regular dinners there. The 'half board' rate was also very high. We would have expected that some reasonable consideration be given regarding price of dinners for guests of the residence.
Otherwise, we loved everyting about the place and will dream about it until we can go back again.

We were a very large party (about 30 people)who arrived at the same time. Despite the challenges that this posed, the staff at Il Poggiaccio were kind, generous and efficient. We are most grateful for their efforts on our behalf.

Borgo Il Poggiaccio is a beautifully restored hamlet with lovely views of the Tuscan countryside. It is conveniently located to Siena, San Gimignano, the Chianti trail.
...
I would highly recommend Borgo Il Poggiaccio. Every member of our large family group was delighted with their accomodations, with the wonderful meals, and with the setting of the Villa. The large swimming pool was a great asset because it was very hot in Italy during our stay. The staff went 'above and beyond' to help us in dozens of ways to have a perfect vacation in Tuscany.

we were in Europe riving around for several weeks and this was the most memorable palce of all. it was beyond our wildest dreams in beauty, graciousness, accomodations and ambiance. We will return here again and again.

Poggiaccio was a bit on the expensive side but very good value for the money. We opted for the meal plan and were surpised and delighted each evening with the presentation, the food and the variety and preparation. Also, if a member of our party of four didn't care for seafood, a substituion was made - no hassles.
...
Poggiaccio was one of the most magical, delightful and enchangting places we have ever stayed. We are world travelers and have lived in Europe and travel there several times a year. My husband is European and grew up in Luxembourg. We have lived in the US since 1974. His business takes him all over the globe and he always stays in the most elegant and top hotels. POGIACCIO rates in our book as one of the very BEST places of all. It is simply enchanting.

It is a beautiful location with friendly employees. Unfortunately There was clearly no remarks on the road passing the Borgo which made the rooms noisy. Besides, we pre-booked 3 nights for dinner and we perceived the quality of the food extremely bad and not up-to expectations in Italy!!
...
Rather chaotic but friendly
...
It is not so child friendly near the swimming pool and for very small childeren some gates might improve the Borgo.

We were a complete nightmare. We did not print off the directions before we went but were guided in by phone.

...
Irena and all the staff could not have been nicer. Nothing was too much trouble.

Our one disappointment was the noise from the road which was on our bedroom side.
...
There was a little confusion with the check out date. The voucher stated 7 nights which is what we originally wanted, but a note from the owner at the bottom of the voucher said they could only do 6 nights.

Absolutely gorgeous setting. The buildings are restored artfully and beautifully, and are some of the prettiest we saw in our two week tour of Italy. The dining room is stunning, and the restaurant staff attentive, professional, and efficient. The setting provides a great place for relaxation and contemplation.
The location is great, with wonderful places to see for day-trips that are not too far. However, it would be best to have a car when staying here, as those places (San Gigigmano, Sienna, wine tastings) or connections to them via bus or train can only be reached via taxi, or if you arrange a tour.
A beautiful setting with lots to do close by.

The only possible negative (and this is in no way a reflection on the staff or the facilities within Borgo Il Poggiaccio, which were excellent) is that we found there to be a lack of nice restaraunts in the immediate locality. We ate in the restaaunt in Borgo Il Poggiaccio for the most part, but for variety, it would have been nice to have alternatives. Also, the complex is quite near the public road and we found this a little noisy at times- but not so that we were upset by it. Overall this was wonderful place to visit and Irena and her staff were friendly and helpful at all times. We have three children and we felt that Irena and Alessandro were genuinely interested in all of the children. Overall a great holiday!

The restaurant is enchanting...probably one of the prettiest I've ever seen. Their breakfast was very nice and the dinner was delicious in a beautiful and romantic setting.

Enchanting 13th century hamlet that has been restored and renovated into a series of apartments. Pool area is beautiful and restaurant experience memorable. Pretty good location...perhaps would prefer an area closer to Chianti region or Pienza
