Travellers Reviews

My husband and I travel a great deal, and Villa Pitiana turned out to be the the loveliest and most magical of all the places we've ever stayed to date. All the staff were invariably polite and helpful and went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. The cooking class was fabulous, and I'd love to take more some day. The restaurant was one of the best restaurants we've enjoyed (we're originally from Chicago where we lived for 25+ years and have enjoyed the best restaurants there and around the country). The surroundings and grounds of Villa Pitiana are gorgeous and peaceful and a real departure from what you might expect from the standard or even better than standard hotel accomodations, and it's very accessible to Chianti country and Florence. My husband and I fell utterly in love with the place and intend to go back. I can't recommend it highly enough.

We were very pleased with our room and facilities ... This was most expensive room on our holiday in Europe. But we were very pleased and thought it was good value. It was a different and pleasing hotel by comparison to others in the cities. ... We enjoyed the dinner in the garden. On a negative note we tried to use the library to read about the history of villa Pitiana but it was not open. We had the impression it would be open. ... Charming large traditional villa/mansion in very relaxing rural location. We recommend it to our friends.

We did have to ask numerous times to be sure we were on the right roads to the hotel. A more detailed map is really necessary.
I found it was hard to believe that it is only 30 minutes by car. We did take the train in to florence which was 30 minutes.
I wish the hotel staff had mentioned or asked what we had planned for the next day. On Sunday (next day) we were limited on the train schedule so if the hotel staff had given us the heads up we would have known we needed to take an earlier train in. also the offer to buy museum tickets on saturday versus the office being closed on sunday. ... The pool are was a little run down. The hotel needs to pave or cement the patio area by the pool. With the weather so delightful they should offer breakfast outside when weather permits. also bar drinks shouldbe served outside prior to dinner. wonderful view to enjoy a bottle of wine.
Staff were wonderful, very polite, very accomadating. ... at check out the hotel had made an error in the billing. Having the wrong guest sign for the wrong bill. I felt this was a hotel error not mine, when I brought it to her attention she became flustered and acted as if the error was mine. It was all worked out in the end. ... The area is so beautiful. a note that they produce olive oil, chianti. that the restaurant within the villa is very good. ... a lovely villa that has the charm and elegance of the tuscany area of italy. The villa restaurant for dinner is very elegant, they offered a wonderful entree selection and their chololate souffle dessert was the best selection of my entire trip!! Dont pass up the chance to walk around the grounds and enjoy the wonderful views.

Found Villa Pitiana absolutely wonderful. For the price and top quality of the hotel, I think it is the best value and most enchanting of any hotel I have ever stayed in. This is a wonderful place.

The staff were very helpful and welcoming. ... The food was fantastic, of a very high standard. ... Think it is worth mentioning the excellent quality of the food, for people who really enjoy quality dining this is the hotel to visit. We will definitely be returning. ... The perfect hotel to treat yourself, ideal for Honeymoons and anniversaries as it's in a tranquil romantic setting.

The room layout is a bit unusual, with the beds under a low ceiling.

Lovely place Great people
... Bed was too hard and uncomfortable No airco in my room which was a pitty because of the heat Place needs a touch up - it looks nice but seems in need of some maintenance ... Nice villa in the Tuscan countryside, loverly surroundings, nice Italian style. Nice & quiet. Nice staff. But my room was only average - I'd advise to get for a better room than the one I got (one person room).

I assumed that because we were paying for a superior room that a shower would have been included so we had to move rooms. ... Although it is a rustic area I thought the rooms were not too cozy..kind of a cold feeling for the price. ... Very peaceful and quiet surroundings. ... Should state that some rooms do not have showers. Elevator is very restrictive. Full Buffet breakfast is European breakfast and does reflect a North American breakfast at all. ... Beautiful Scenery
