La Pieve Montaione, Farmhouse, San Gimignano Area, Tuscany

Set in the very heart of Tuscany, in the centre of an imaginary circle, joining extraordinary artistic and cultural towns such as Florence, Siena, Pisa and Lucca, not far from the unique towers-skylines of San Gimignano and Volterra, the farm really enjoys an enviable location, just 1km from Montaione, and offers a magnificent view on the surrounding countryside: a superb landscape made of green hills, winding paths, cypresses, vineyards and olive groves.

Urban settling down, grown around the ancient parish of San Regolo (11th Century), La Pieve still reveals the remains of the old church.

An
ancient legend tells about a gold bell, which a priest hid from the enemies in the crypt of the church, and they tell that he chose rather to die than to reveal where the treasure was hidden.

The present owners have carefully restored the old village, with the highest respect of its original characteristics as well as of the surroundings, and converted the entire property into 15 tasteful apartments offering lovely guests accommodations of various types, where the tuscan tradition live again in each architectonic detail: in the typical archs, the terracotta tiled floors, the open wood beamed ceilings...

The estate

The most recent
history of La Pieve is bound to the story of a family: the Tognetti's, to whom it belongs since the end of the Forties, when Guido Tognetti, the founder, began the activity of the farm and conveyed his endless love for the land to his sons, who made of La Pieve one of the most important producer of Chianti Wine in Montaione.

The estate extends over 30 hectares, 15 of which are cultivated with Chianti vines and other selected grapes, which produce different kind of red and white wine, from the typical tuscan chianti to more vintage wines, aged in traditional oak barrels.
The farm also produces Grappa and a precious
extra-virgin olive oil, derived from hand-picked and cold-pressed olives, following the old methods of the tuscan tradition. All these products can be purchased by the guests directly at the farm.
