Historic and artistic capital of Versilia, Pietrasanta remains faithful to its tradition, showing impressive examples of religious, military and civilian architecture, among which Piazza Duomo is the undiscussed jewel in the crown. Pietrasanta has always been a lively cultural centre. Located close to the sea in the region of the beautiful Alpi Apuane, Pietrasanta is also situated within short driving distance from other popular tourist destinations in Tuscany such as Lucca, Pistoia, Montecatini Terme, Lido di Camaiore, Marina di Pietrasanta, Carrara and Forte dei Marmi. Pietrasanta is also the ideal starting point for a trip to the Liguria region, one of Italy's most beautiful, and to its famous ara of Cinque Terre. Among the other services and facilities available in Pietrasanta are:
- Sailing: "Club Velico" offers expert tuition for the novice or experienced sailor. Windsurfers, jet skis and other water sports are also available for rent. Full details can be provided upon request.
- Golf: An interesting 18 hole golf course lies just 4 km North, in Forte dei Marmi. The club's facilities offer swimming pool and hotel. Clubs are available to rent. A driving range is available.
- Horseback Riding: Horseback riding through the countryside is available on an hourly basis. Trekking guides may also be hired by the day for the more serious.
- Walking: Mountain walks are many, with detailed itineraries provided. Versilia Alta is the ideal base for walkers at all levels.
- Day Excursions: Take a boat trip to the beautiful island of Elba, or the famous picturesque town of Portofino, or the Cinque Terre. Pisa, Lucca, Florence, Siena, and Carrara are all within easy reach.

- Shopping: Apart from the excellent markets, Old Pietrasanta has some wonderful shops offering the best of Italian clothing, leather, arts and crafts. - Teenagers: There is a weekly program of events specifically targeted for teenagers from mid July throughout the end of August.
- Opera: The Puccini Festival, an open air theatre at Puccini's last home at Torre del Lago, located a few kilometres South of Pietrasanta, takes place each year in August and features a selection of operas from this much beloved composer. Details can be provided upon request.
