The staff was extremely courtious and helpful.
...
The hotel was a complete surprise as to quality. The owners have invested heavily in the property and it is by far the highest quality hotel in the area.
...
I checked out at 5:00am and the staff was ready for me. They even went to the kitchen to make a fresh coffe for the road. Incredibly delightful people.
...
I would give the long history of family ownership and even reveal the amount of the renovation. I would also give details about the food. The restaurant is 5 star and served the some of the finest food I have experienced in all of Italy and I travel to Italy often.
...
As truly 1st class. I have already told several friends and four of them are planning to stay in the hotel in April.

The restaurant, I Salotti, was fabulous.

We loved Il Patriarca -- no complaints. It was perfect for touring Southern Tuscany and Umbria. Would definitely go back. Fabulous restaurant.

The staff were very pleasant and made our stay most enjoyable.
...
Hostess was most helpful in assisting us plan the next days travelling itinerary.
...
The hotel has many more facilities than the web site shows including a cooking school
...
The hotel, restaurant and grounds were beautiful. The location was not the most desirable but the grounds made up for it. The hostess was 'over the top' accomodating and helpful. She was very helpful in assisting us locate other restaurants and planning the next leg of our trip.

We had a bit of trouble locating the hotel from the road we we were on. It would have been helpful to have a sign near the Autostrade exit as we had to go to a hotel near there and ask directions.
...
The other restaurant wasn't open and after a long day of touring around, we really didn't feel like going out again and we didn't wish to have a big meal like we had the first night in the dining room. The lady at the front desk kindy called Zaira and made reservations for us and we really enjoyed our dinner there, so it wasn't that much of a problem.
...
You should definitely include more details on the restaurant and the special packages.
...
Il Patriarca is definitely worth a visit and the package that we enjoyed (La Dolce Vita) was really perfect for us. I would have liked to stay a bit longer so we could explore more of the surrounding areas. I would recommend anyone thinking of visiting Il Patriarca to go when it is warmer so they could enjoy the grounds and swimming pool.

We really loved the way the sparkling wine and strawberries in the room were presented.

Cooking class was excellent. Service was attentive, and very polite. Our teenage children were treated very well. Great stay, would highly reccommend.

A very pleasant stay, with a great cooking class. Pool overlooks beautiful vineyards. Food was superb, and not overly expensive. Hope to return!

We were tired when we arrived and check-in was friendly and we were in our room and very comfortable quickly. We had a wonderful sleep.
...
We arrived at night and when we opened the drapes in the morning we were astounded by the glorious view from our room.
Some of my luggage was lost and the hotel staff were very helpful in directing me to where I could purchase some of the required items that were missing.
Everything was very lovely from breakfast thru dinner.
...
By check out I still did not have my luggage.I was heading to a remote area in Umbria and knew the airline would never manage to locate me. The staff at the hotel said they would gladly accept my luggage and call me when it arrived. It was six days later but the staff was still very on top of the situation and called me when it arrived at the hotel. We drove back to the hotel with pleasure to get the luggage. It was there waiting and the staff was most gracious about receiving it. The hotel staff were mych more helpful and concerned then the airline.

It was great - they even upgraded us to the best suite in the house. Your discreption did not do it justice. Quite with great views and helpful people. The common areas are anything but common and the service is great. We will go back. In fact we cut our visit to Florence short to go back for an extra night.
...
By far the best value we had in Italy. The hotel Adler in Florece was 50 euros more per night and a dump.
...
A dimond in a sea of emeralds. The location is great - close to major roads for access to all of Tuscany and Umbera. Tuscany is like Napa Valley on seroids, bigger, better and more bella.

Staff was incredibly helpful.
...
The hotel was located directly on a local highway and was next to a strip-mall. It was not a romantic location. Traffic noise was loud in the room even with the windows closed. There was absolutely no view outside the windows. The pool did not look anything like the picture, was murky, and we were scared to use it. Otherwise, the room itself was excellent and the staff was incredibly helpful. The restaurant was incredible.
...
Excellent service.
...
5-star quality hotel (in terms of facilities, service, and restaurant) in a horrible location. Good access to highways so you can leave for better towns/areas. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Helpful and charming
...
The only criticism of an otherwise delightful hotel is the cost of their 'cocktails'. A small, warm 'Prosiecco' was E15.00 which is more than in the most expensive hotels in Venice! The hotel would find that it had more guests if their aperitivi and restaurant were better priced. Their taverna is well-priced and, as a consequence, gets busy hotel, as well as local, trade.
...
The manager is very competent and, as a result, has a strong, efficient team. Checking out was very smooth.
...
It has a delightful garden and pool area which give great tranquillity after a hot day's sight seeing. The rooms and bathrooms are spacious and well-equipped.

The hotel is ideally situated for visiting Val D'Orcia and even Rome.

As mentioned previously, the only negative point is the outrageous cost of the aperitivi.
...
This is one of the most delightful hotels I have ever stayed in - primarily because of the professionality of the staff. Without exception, they were polite, helpful and exceedingly accomodating. I cannot speak highly enough of them. The hotel is exceptional value.

Il Patriarca was my favorite hotel experience in Italy. It was convenient for day trips to Montepulciano, Pienza, Montalcino, Assisi, and Orvieto. We would definitely go back. The price is very reasonable for the amenities (4 star) and the restaurant downstairs was outstanding. The servers introduced us to some lovely wines. We ate there every night after being out all day sightseeing.During our 3 week trip we also stayed at a 5 star hotel chain in Milan and Zurich, $650 a day. I liked Il Patriarca better! Make sure you walk through the trees in the back of the property, very magical.

Villa Il Patriarca is a lovely and comfortable hotel. The Tavern restaurant was excellent as was the quality and diversity of the 'continental' breakfast that was included in the price of the room (really a full breakfast - great pastries ). The service was impeccable and the rooms extremely comfortable. Grounds are exquisite! Our one 'complaint' was that the front desk personnel did not have much local information available. We asked about local wineries, Sunday Mass schedules, where to post a letter, general questions about the area's points of interest and were (very politely) told that they did not know. My one suggestion would be to offer concierge services.
...
I would definitely recommend it, great hotel in a very convenient location close to the autostrada, between Southern Tuscany and Umbria!

There was a problem with our room key and it took two days to receive another key somewhat an inconvenience to the staff because each time we arrived back to the property we needed someone to let us in and also an inconvenience to ourselves. The casual dining room is in need of some decoration, it is somewhat uninviting and stark as compared to the rest of the hotel which is very warm and welcoming.
...
We checked out at 7 AM to catch a flight in Rome, we had cancelled our Rome hotel because we enjoyed the Il Patriarca so drove from Chiusi to the airport on the last morning. However, the was no bellman on duty so had to carry our luggage (large pieces) downstairs, Claudia, was very helpful by assisting us, but by 7Am there should be a bellman on duty, especially since there are no elevators!
...
A lovely villa hotel that is centrally located to other towns as well as convenient to the autostrada. I would recommend staying again in the Fellini suite as it has the most desirable views, someone would be disappointed to have a view of the theatre. The Fellini suite was beautifully decorated, very comfortable had incredible views of the hillside as well as the terrace. It was wonderful to open the French doors in the morning to this sight!

Our arrival and departure was handled in a professional manner.
...
We regretted not having more time to take a walk around the grounds nor sit in the lovely garden.
...
The hotel is located on a very busy road, but we never noticed the traffic from the building. There is a supermarket nearby. Also, we were impressed by the ancient Etruscan wine cellar that is visible through glass windows on the floor.
...
The hospitality was at a high level. Our every request was attended to. The dining room decor was especially exquisite. The meals were beyond our expectation. The surrounding countryside is breathtaking.

We believe there was no swimming pool. For a 4 star hotel we believe this can be expected (it was not mentioned, so ok so far).
...
We believe it is more a business hotel and not a hotel to book for a holiday stay (at least not for more than 2 or 3 days) because there was not such an atmosphere.
...
A very good hotel, however not to stay for a whole holiday period.

The check-in was fabulous due to our English
speaking front desk manager Laura. The
absolute in hospitality and friendliness and
effeciency. We were beyond impressed.
We did upgrade to a better view that was
available and had to pay a little extra but
well worth it.
...
Loved the restaurants and the hotel location
was very convenient to the roadways.
...
Driving from Chiusi, it would be helpful to
have a driving map with landmarks to look for.
More detailed,printable, with rotarys etc.
...
We will recommend it to anyone traveling to
the area. We will be staying again in the
future.

The only problem we had with the room was the inability to control the air conditioning temperature - we had to keep calling reception to manually adjust the temperature. The breakfast service was quite slack - upon arrival for breakfast each morning there were no tables ready (uncleaned from the previous guests) and the service was very slow and disorganised.
...
The property is set in beautiful surroundings, with great restaurants on site. Great rooms with amazing bathrooms. The pool is amazing with typical Tuscan views from the water. The location of the hotel is ideal for touring the region by car.

I did not expect a 4 star hotel to have a poor accommodation. It was the basic room and appeared like a 'prison room' with a metal bed frame and tiled floor. I was quite upset and it was explained to me that it was a very nice room and their 'standard room'. I immediately asked for an upgrade knowing that I would not be able to stay in this sub standard room with a shower only.. not even a bathtub.
Maybe my standards are too high. I just expected more from a 4 star hotel. The hotel receptionist was very accommodating and found a room for me the very next night. It cost a little more but was worth the difference....
...
Again..the hotel was wonderful. The food was of average quality as compared to others in the area. The receptionist Claudia was very gracious and hard working.
...
Describe the rooms more clearly. The standard room is a basic no frills room unlike the pictures you see on-line.
...
Claudia was an extraordinary hostess.
The waiters in the dining room were very personable. The food was average with not much to choose from and did not change during our stay. We ate there twice.
The hotel at minimum...you need to start by looking at a superior room.

Good bath room, but otherwise small room (251)next to the outside ventilation pipes from the restaurant kitchen (3 big pipes). Very small TV. No noise insulation whatsoever to neighbouring room. When the neighbouring room was occupied, you had to listen to every conversation. Annoying air condition which could not be switched off at times. All in all 2-3 star room, but nice staff and otherwise nice villa and garden, good restaurants. Star restaurant grossly overpriced, trattoria really good value.
...
That the vila and the garden are nice, but in fact are situated next to a main road and inside an industrial area.
...
Fair place to stay for 2-3 days in order to visit the surrounding towns in Tuscany and Umbria. Don't expect 4 star rooms. If you try, you will find better.
