The owner was extremely friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome. It really made our stay memorable. ... The property was beautiful and the location meant we were fully able to enjoy the town to the full. ... We were very pleased to have booked via the internet at the rate we paid. We are recommending the website and accommodation to friends and will use the service again. ... Very steep staircase into the hotel. We were okay, but elderly or infirm people may have find them difficult. ... Warm, welcoming and helpful staff. Beautiful hotel with stunning views and great location.

The room is very nice. The Innkeeper is very nice. It should be noted on the website that the innkeeper is NOT at the site, but rather at a tabacco shop around the corner. Travelers from out of the contry may find it difficult to figure out how to use Italian payphnes and how to communicate without speaking Italian.
Once we figured out how to get into the B&B and how to find it, we had a thoroughally enjoyable stay. We would highly recommend this B&B but only recommend they figure out a better way for customers to find the site and get in touch with the innkeeper.
... We recommend Palazo Al Torrione. ... That customers MUST call the innkeeper in advance of their stay to coordinate check in. That customers are given an easy-to-find location as a meeting point for them with the innkeeper. DO NOT attempt to find this place unless you have been there before. Many one-way streets, poorly marked streets and pedestrian streets that do not accommodate cars. ... Beautiful. Large flat with a nice view. Well appointed. Friendly and helpful innkeepr. San Gigminano is an incredible place that is well worth the stop.

I was very pleasantly surprised both by the accomodations and the host, Vanna.
I called Vanna on her cell phone and she met me right at the door of the hotel. She checked us in quickly and showed us to our room, reviewing the features. She was pleasant, accomodating and very professional. ... The website doesn't do the hotel justice! This was my favorite hotel of the 4 we stayed at. Very impressive, clean, with great appeal and ambiance. I can't say enough about it! ... Check out was extremely easy. We settled everything the night before since we had an early check-out and just left the key on the desk - absolutely hassle free. ... Simply that you'll be far more impressed than you can imagine! It's a 1300 year-old building just off the main street, but very quiet, comfortable with unending charm. ... This is a must-visit. As much as I liked the city of San Gimignano, I liked the hotel even better!

We were very pleased with everything regarding our arrival. The receptionist was very helpful indeed. ... Beeing our first trip to Tuscany (and Italy) we were overwhelmed by the town and its surroundings. The location of our room was perfect. ... Everything went smooth, and as planned. ... A very charming, yet comfortable place with everything you need and good value for money.

Our host went to great lengths to assist us and make us feel welcome, but it was a little unsettling making the first phone call to arrange our entry. ... Would certainly recommend to friends and return ourselves. ... Again, very helpful in assisting with the parking arrangements, and lovely to deal with. ... Confusing street numbering - there are two sets of numbers on the walls. ... In the heart of San Gimignano - quiet but near everything - excellent restaurant 20 yards away. Clean and comfortable. Lovely people.

Amazing value for money. The room was immaculately clean and in pristine condition (which we understand the owners pride themselves on). We usually stay in 5* hotels (but these are somewhat lacking in Tuscan towns) yet we were not at all disappointed when we saw the room. If there was an on-site reception we're certain the room rate would be double! Difficult to believe there could be anywhere better to stay within the walls of San Gimignano.

My only criticism would be what I think was probable the monotonous on/off every few seconds of what I suspect was a central air conditioning unit in the lower floor of the building - caused poor sleep! However, I have been recommending it to friends ... Great place in a great place

Directions were a little confusing but it worked out. ... Very nice hotel. Clean and comfortable. Family run. An overall pleasant experience. ... No problems. ... A unique hotel with nice rooms. Breakfast was provided. The location is excellent. The family owners took great care of us. ... Quaint and historic. It felt like traveling back in time. (in a good way) I would book again.

Fantastic! Vanna meets you at the car park outside the town, and takes you and your bafgs into this ancient, and largely vehicle-free, town. ... A wonderful 'get-away-from-it-all' place, but walk out of the door and you are almost on the main street of the town again! The refurbishment of this old building has been carried out to a very high standard, so you can enjoy the character of the old, combined with the practicalities of modern living.

I wish to commend the wonderful family who operates the Palazzo Al Torrione. We were late arriving, due to our getting lost on the way. It was past check in time. The young man who assisted us was wonderful and patient. He took his time to explain everything and made certain we were comfortable before he left - probably returning to his dinner from which we must have interrupted. ... The Palazzo Al Torrione is on a quiet street but that the activity in the maln square is only moments away. I would recommend the terrace room with its lovely view. The family who operates the hotel was helpful and very kind.

Staff were not at the property when we arrived but Francesco, our contact there, was easily found at the tobacco shop a short distance away. He was very nice and professional. ... We were pleasantly surprized that the property was not only as described on the website, but even better. Lovely decor and the room size was adequate for our needs. The bathroom was outstanding with new fixtures and was sparkling clean. ... The staff are not around much although can be easily contacted at the shop so this might be for a more independent tourist. ... Very good value for the money, pleasantly decorated, excellent restroom facilities and very clean. I'm recommending Palazzo Al Torrione to friends and co-workers.

The son of the owner was extremely helpful in getting us to the parking lot and carting our luggage. ... The room was lovely and clean, beautiful bathroom, nice terrace. ... They were accommodating to us on our early breakfast request on check-out day. ... Charming, family-run inn, located within the walls of beautiful medieval town. Lovely accommodations at reasonable rates. San Gimignano is also a good central base for day trips to Sienna, the vineyards, etc.

I was the only guest staying that particular night. The family also owns a Tabac shop in town and were working there when I arrived at the hotel. Fortunately, I had a cell phone and was able to contact someone to let me in. ... Very nice place to stay and a great location, right near the main entrance to the town. Room looked out onto the Tuscan countryside and was quiet. Nicely appointed furnishings and a good value for the money. Breakfast in the morning was typical European continental but with excellent fresh bread and pastries. I would definitely stay here again.

the location of the hotel (san giminiano)on web page was not clear at all and as indicated we had to call the owner and wait for him but that was ok ... very charming rooms, tastly decorated, quiet street ... parking was available, cheap but a little far from the hotel, however the owner drives you back to hotel ... very charming rooms, nicely decorated, everything is brand new ! quiet street, good value for the place

A big street was next to the (terrasse) room -> not very quiet. The breakfast was bad and the service at breakfast not very polite. But the receptionist was nice, the location of the hotel is very good and the room was nice and clean. ... The parking lot that can be rented is some minutes to got from the hotel. (a walking of 5-8 minutes up and down -> not for weak or old people)

We had planned on breakfast being included with the room. We fond that although we could receive breakfast there was no strong in providing it. I believe that we were told it would be available at 10:00 if we were interested. A little late in the morning for our interests. This was the only disappointment. ... Clean and convenient. Check in requires that you call by phone for someone to meet you so park and locate a phone (the tourist office on the town square can be helpful.)

there was no-one there in the morning to check-out (at 8.30am). On the telephone number we were given nobody answered. We arrived 1 hour later at the airport than inteded because we could not check-out in time. The manager did not even bother to apologise that nobody was available. ... the hotel itself is superb, but the manager (the only person there) was neither friendly nor helpful.
