Near Palazzo Conti there are many villages where you can find banks, post offices, food markets, and chemists. Nearby places of interest:
Montepulciano: This is the largest "Comune" or council in the Sienese Valdichiana. The town is said to have been founded by the Etruscans and is now famous for its wine.
Pienza: The town stands on the top of a hill which overlooks the splendid Val d'Orcia. The place was originally called Corsignano and owes its present name to Aeneas Silvius Piccolomini, Pope Pius II who was born here in 1405. He orchestrated the town planning by commissioning architect, Bernardo Rossellio in 1460-1463 to create a noble group of early Renaissance architecture around the central Piazza del Duomo. |
