I did not like the room I was given originally and requested another room and they changed it immediately upon my asking. This hotel provided great service and we would go back should we visit Lucca again.

The staff at this hotel excels at service. They were always polite, social and accomodating. They helped us with all questions and provided local information. I would go back without hesitation and recommend to any of my firends visiting Lucca.

Nicely furnished, beautiful small hotel with stall showers (a plus in Europe)extremely service oriented staff. Staff accomodated all our requests. The location is just inside the wall and within walking distance to anything inside the wall. We loved it and enjoyed our stay very much. Will book again if we return to the Lucca area.

This is our third time staying at the Palazzo Alexander and we really enjoy staying there. This year we had a beautiful suite on the top floor with a terrace overlooking the rooftops of Lucca. We loved it!!! We plan on returning to Lucca again next year and once again we will stay at the Palazzo Alexander. It is a beautiful hotel with very friendly, helpful staff. Our stay at the Palazzo Alexander was perfect yet again!! I highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel is beautifully decorated. The colours, draperies, furniture and bedspreads give a very luxurious feel to the rooms. The hotel and the rooms are very warm and charming...very romantic. We stayed in a suite on the top floor with a beautiful terrace. We loved to go out there and enjoy the view while sipping our wine.

I have enjoyed staying at the Palazzo Alexander. The staff was very accomodating, informative and helpful.
Car park was a bit tight for a large car that our friends used.
Otherwise higly recommended.

We thought it was a bit expensive, but it is in the centre of the walled city, so I guess this accounted for the price.

driving inside Lucca is very difficult because of one ways. It would be good to indicate which city 'entry' to use.

A little gem.The location, decor and charm of the hotel were all excellent. The plentiful breakfast set us up for the day,and it was reassuring to know that the room would be warm on our return each day.The bathroom facilities were good with as much hot water as we wanted. The room was cleaned thoroughly daily.

Lovely facility within the walls of Lucca. Parking was nearby in a secured courtyard area. One way streets and restricted driving areas made finding the property difficult. The staff and sevice were excellent. Mattress (no box springs) and pillows not up to American standards.

Commentary concerning driving in Lucca. Very narrow streets, with bikes, scooters, and pedestrians that is typical for towns of Lucca's age. THis is definitely a walking-touring town but staying in the town was definitely worthwhile over staying outside of the walls.

Lovely staff ad atmospheric hotel. Lucca is difficult to negotatiate/drive around. The direction were good once we were inside the city walls but it was tricky to find the correct gate.

Since I parked in front of the hotel (unfortunately blocking traffic) the front desk clerk came right out and took the car around the block to park in a place where our bags could be unloaded without causing further traffic backup. Very helpful and courteous.

Very delightful accommodations. Portable air conditioner was unexpected but did not cause any noise problems.

Desk clerk retrieved car from CarPark for us and helped load bags. Gave excellend directions to exit Lucca and get to the Autostrade.

EVERYTHING WAS WONDERFUL EXCEPT THAT WE WERE WOKEN UP VERY EARLY BY THE CLEANING LADY WHO WAS CLEANING THE ADJACENT ROOM WITH ITS DOOR OPEN. SHE WAS MAKING A LOT OF NOISE - NOT HOW ONE SHOULD EVER BE WOKEN UP ON VACATION. I WOULD SERIOUSLY RECONSIDER RECOMMENDING OR STAYING AT THE HOTEL AGAIN UNLESS THIS CHANGED.

WE ATE AT THE BEST RESTUARANT AFTER 10 DAYS IN ITALY - RECOMMENDED BY A STAFF MEMBER WHO MADE A RESERVATION FOR US - IT MADE OUR STAY MUCH MORE MEMORABLE.

We found the establishment better than we expected. The man on duty was always so accomidating and even gave us maps for the next leg of our trip. We will always stay at Pallazzo Alexander when we travel to Lucca.

I would definitely recommed that they stay at Palazzo Alexander as it is a small palace in a beautiful town. Extravagant decorations made us feel like royalty and the location could not have been any better. Just a few blocks from the plaza and has a beautiful view. Hope to go back someday.

A nice man was very quickly out of the door to help us with our bags, and to drive our car to the hotel's car park, which was conveniently located nearby, but would have been very difficult for us to find on our first day in Lucca. Excellent level of service throughout, of which this was only one example. Beautiful, well furnished room was delightful, despite being small. Correspondance diredtly with the hotel prior to our arrival was easy and efficiently dealt with by the staff of the hotel.

A very welcoming inn, historical and very quaint. The town of Lucca is probably the best walking town I have seen, with many churches and art works to see. There is also bicycling available in the town. A great experience all around!

The greeting was very warm and the room was made ready quite early which was very helpful as we had a 3am start to our journey and were grateful to be able to get into our room.

The only disappointing elements were a lack of wine glasses in the minibar (although there was a bottle of wine) and the minibar was not restocked one day - we had to request bottles of water/replacement wine.

We stayed in the Tosca suite because it has a terrace. However, it is quite small and the table had no facility for an umbrella - during the heat of the day it was impossible to sit on the terrace to enjoy the view. We spent our last night in the Madam Butterfly suite which we thought was absolutely fantastic - one of the best rooms in which we have ever stayed.

The owners of the hotel were wonderful and made our stay exceptionally pleasant. Palazzo Alexander is a lovely hotel with old-world charm and hospitality, a very nice breakfast and a convenient (for walking) location. The bathroom is very small and could use some serious updating.

Some confusion about the difference between a 'standard' and a 'superior' room. The hotel offered a 'superior' room to us but the booking form only listed 'standard' as an option. I would not regard the room we received as 'superior'.

The rooms and public areas were as presented on the web-site and we were generally satisfied with our stay. However, the room received did not meet 'superior' expectations and there were some service lapses - rotting apples in the room's fruit bowl on arrival, no-one attending to a complaint about a shower blockage (I dealt with it myself in the end). I am not sure we received the service levels suggested by the price of the rooms.
