Pietrasanta is a quiet city full of shops and typical tuscan restaurant. Viareggio Carnival is a world famous event like the Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago in July and August. The celebrated theatre, dance and music show of "La Versiliana" is another date not to be missed in the summer. There is a splendid 18 hole golf course in Forte dei Marmi (approximately 10 Km away). Pietrasanta It was founded in 1255 by Guiscardo from Pietrasanta, a nobleman from Milan in charge as Podestà of Lucca, it is a medieval city despite being built with 'Renaissance' criteria: indeed, its structure was designed following an orthogonal plan with a great median axis (via Mazzini and via Garibaldi) and a large main square.
