 Wineproduction & the Ortaglia Winecellar: More conceited but equally generous is the VINE ! This wild plant is hard to tame and the farmer never can lose sight of it : it needs a lot of care and love if you want to get grapes of great quality. So it is that you make a great wine: a wine that you must call NOBILE = NOBLE ! The VINO NOBILE DI MONTEPULCIANO. In fact the legend claims that Lorenzo il Magnifico, visiting in Montepulciano the humanist poet and preceptor of his sons, the Poliziano, tasting the wine he offered, stated: "This wine is for NOBLE palates". If you also agree that BACCHUS is the best of the Gods of the Olympus, at the ORTAGLIA estate you will find a very well furnished wine-cellar for the joy of your palates. Discover the culture of our beutiful Country towards the thousands flavours of the italian oenology. Underground of the farmhose, well protected from the light, the vibrations and the changes of temperature, we jealously keep a selection of wines coming from the best italian wine regions.

 Mountain-bikes: In our farmhouse you cannot be bored. Our guests can rent some mountain bikes and freely explore the countryside of Tuscany. We will show to you some off-road iteneraries, if you want to discover enchanting views and keep yourself in good shape.
Olive-Oil Production: Our 300 olive-trees produce olives of rare quality and beauty. The olive includes in its shape the charm of the generosity: it is an austere plant that anchor to the land with pride but it never asks for anything. Very little are the care of the farmer for the plant, nevertheless it overloads with olives which give an oil green like a field in springtime. What to say about its frangrance? The extra virgin olive oil of Ortaglia seems to be more suitable for the body than for the mouth! Besides, also the ancient Romans used to sprinkle their body with extra virgin olive oil to make the skin smooth and shining. We anyway prefer it on a slice of tuscan bread, better if it was just taken out of the ancient wood-burning oven of our farmhouse.
