Most enjoyable time. Real adventure driving the dirt road to/from the Montegonzi to get into town or to go exploring Tuscany.
...
Notified when we checked in that establishment required cash for checking out, which was not mentioned in the website. With a two week stay, it was a substantial amount of cash to have ready. Luckily, I was able to make periodic withdrawals using my bankcard to build up the sum required.
...
Payment by cash on checking out.
...
Excellent accomodations, scenic, comfortable, relaxing, centrally located in Tuscany, good value for the money. slight challenge driving 2km dirt road to get in/out of accomodation.

1 set of towels for one week is not enough. The washer was to small to keep then laundered. All else was Fabulous. Thank you!!!P.S Thank you for the lead into the resort. We would never have found it on our own!!
...
It would have been nice to know some history on the property. Noticed the restoration photo's in the office. A write up in the info book in the room would have been a neat addition to the ambiance of our stay. Loved the property. The trail to greve was further than we thought ,but we loved it anyway!Thankyou for the great travel experience.
...
Should sell your postcards!! Great arial view of property.
...
Pontagonzo ?( Did I spell right?) Is the closest town by car from the property. It is not mentioned in your adds. Yet we loved the town!!!We spent a lot of time there for meals.
...
Breathtaking views,a tranquil hideaway , filled with tuscan charm.Great central location to do day trips by car to Florence,Siena , and other charming tuscan towns.

Direction badly indicated. Should have more signage on the road.
...
Property is very nice and very quite. This is what I was looking for.
...
Quick check-out.
...
The access road is very bad and should be reported on the web site.
They should insist on the fact that the property is at 20 minutes driving distance from Greve and not at 1km.

differcult to find staff but to be fair it was early evening and saturday so main office closed, very little english.
Had expected private out doordining area as described but in fact not actually close to our unit.
...
The grounds and units felt alittle neglected.
Generally clean but not spotless could do with clean dishcloth.Very hot at night could do with airconditioning, did have fans.
...
genuine tuscan farmhouse feel, with amazing views, lovely swimming pool. Not flash but comfortable.

Finding the villa was very difficult even with the GPS unit in my car. It was very deceiving that it was stated that Greve was 2 km away. We had to drive all the way to Panzano to get there. A driving map should be included with detailed directions. Also, make sure that guests understand that the road is difficult and trips to and from should be well planned.
Having said that, we loved the accomodations. The seclusion of the property, the view, the quiet and even the bumpy drive through the vineyard provided all of the magic I had come to dream about in Tuscany. I would go back in a heartbeat. The room turned out to be better and larger than I believed it would be. Overall, I was very satisfied. Thank You. Frank Pietromonaco

The view from this property is wonderful. We purchased hundreds of dollars from the Coop in Panzano and cooked rather than going out to the fine Tuscan restaurants. This was because of the peaceful and serene nature of the setting. It was a perfect stop between the crowds of Venice and Cinqueterre.
...
Detailed driving directions and the quality (not great) of the access road should be clearly described.
...
Fantastic. It is a little difficult to get into and out of but the quiet, rustic and marvelously Tuscan surroundings make this a hidden gem. The cost and ability to make reservations for less that a full week offset the difficult access.

The track to the property was, as last time, very poor but the setting is worth it
...
The property is quite isolated but you do get peace & quiet
...
There were no facilities for credit card payments which can be a hassle is you stay for several nights
...
No
...
The cheaper appartments are very small, pay the extra for a larger property, enjoy the isolation and listen for the wild boars at night.

The beds in the seccond bedroom were clearly designed for children and definately not suitable for grown-ups! The couple occupying this room could hardly sleep. This should have been announced.
Otherwise the Castello di Montegonzi really was a gem!

Peaceful, clean, beautiful setting.

Rooms: Were very good EXCEPT for the water supply - if you used the lavatory you had to wait for the cistern to fill before getting water out of the tap to wash your hands. This did not stop our enjoyment of Montegonzi too much, but they do need to install a storage tank above roof level!

Also, any property like this, where most people will go for the peace and quiet, needs a policy on noise and on young children. We were next door to a family with a young child that was wingeing and crying a lot of the time. On the third night I had to make it clear that they were ruining our holiday, they got very angry and insulted me and swore at me. They did at least keep their door shut afterwards...

We had not paid the full amount and nobody was around to take the money. We had to find paper and pen and write a note and wrap the mney up in it. A staff member did show just as we were leaving, but he was one of the maintenance staff.

A lovely place -- a small village feeling. A little hard to get to, because of the dirt road, but worthwhile once you arrive.

the directions need to be updated, as the road just outside of the village of panzano we were supposed to take to the castello is closed, and we had to go another way. Not really a problem, but nice to know :-)

Very charming and quiet. Magnificent view and 'Italian atmosphere'

This 'hotel' is in a beautiful location. Spacious accommodations near lovely towns and vineyards. The directions to find it need to be improved. Route 222 is never referenced. Key route to finding Montegonzi.

The directions stated on the website led us down a road that was closed off. We had to telephone the venue to get a new route.

The man that was there when we arrived was rather rude and not very welcoming.
...
The views were absolutely beautiful and whilst the accomodation was basic, it was very clean. There was a problem with wasps around the outdoor areas including our terrace and pool which was rather frustrating at times, but nevertheless we enjoyed our stay at Castello di Montigonzi.
...
The 15-20 minute walk to Greve from the accomodation is more like a 30 minute hike down some rather dodgy, very rocky paths. As a fit, young person, it is not a walk I would do again. You absolutely need a hire car if you are staying at Montegonzi because it is miles away from Panzano, the nearest town.
...
Beautiful location and great, albeit basic, accomodation. The pool area and outdoor terraces are lovely but there are lots of wasps around. The staff are not very welcoming or polite but this doesn't really matter when you have such a good view.

Instructions were a little confusing for a foreigner whose maps did not have nearly enough detail of the towns on it.I think we found our way by good fortune rather than knowing where we were!
A note was attached to the reception door telling us our room number. Key was left in the room door as we arrived after 5pm.

Road leading to Montegonzi was unsealed and at times steep and potholed. Entry in poor weather conditions may have been a major problem.
...
I think the desciption of 'historic hamlet' would better identify the property than 'castello'.
The position on the hill and views from Montegonzi were great.
...
We were asked to pay in cash and so needed to go to an automatic teller to withdraw the money.
...
Would have been easier if we had been aware of the cash payment requirement.

...
A historic hamlet in a beautiful part of the Tuscan coutryside.

The receptionist was most unhelpful. We had a light bulb out in the kitchen which made it difficult to see and he was not even able to locate another one. Additionally, the accomodations were not at all suitable. The pull-out in the living room was suppose to be large enough to sleep two and it was barely large enough for one. We had to shorten our stay and find other accomodations because the accomodations were not sufficient.
...
There should have been more description about the type of road leading to the property. It is an unpaved, gravel road that is VERY narrow. While the view was beautiful, the drive was very difficult and should be made much clearer.
...
We shortened our visit and had no difficulty doing this.
...
as I already stated, more information regarding the road and the drive to the place.
...
I would not be able to recommend it. There may have been another apartment that would have been more suitable but it should not have been offered to me given that we were a family of five and this place was not big enough.

The receptionist was not present when we arrived. But there was a message to me and the key was available so it was ok.
...
We had a wonderful stay.
The only negative comments would be that the toilets need to be cleaned more often or some toliet soap and brush should be provided.
...
It was not easy to find Castello di Montegonzi as the wooden sign on the main road was very difficult to read.
...
I would recommend this place to a friend.
Good location, quiet, beautiful view, clean.

We didn't feel welcomed by anyone, there was one person who didn't provide information or was available, just saw in passing. Bit of a shame, felt it would have been better someone who was there to welcome us and tell us about the area and the property. Reception always closed, would have been good to go and read the information etc. Wasn't sure about washing etc, as the person didn't speak much english and didn't explain. But the accommodation itself was great.
