Facilities at Marsiliana: The swimming pool ( 9 x 4,5 x1,50) of Marsiliana lies in a beautiful garden with spectacular views onto silvery olive groves. The pergola, covered in wistaria, is equipped with tables and chairs and invites for meals outside. Dinners: upon request a lady working on the estate who is a wonderful cook will prepare typical Tuscan specialities for you. Parking: a private parking space is provided for our guests. |
Facilities at Cutignolo: The swimming pool is 7 x 15 metres large and is equipped with sun beds and deck chairs in exotic timber which we imported directly from Indonesia. They look beautiful under the bamboo roofs which were built to provide shade. Spacious pergole covered in wistaria and equipped with tables and chairs invite for meals outside. The large terrace at Podere with comfortable chairs is ideal for having some drinks at sunset. Dinners: upon request a lady from the village who is a wonderful cook will prepare typical Tuscan specialities for you. Car Park: private parking area is at our guests´ disposal. Laundry: La Stalla has a laundry room, equipped with washing machine, iron and ironing board.
In all 3 houses household help is included: Castello and Cutignolo Podere: 3 hours 3 times per week Cutignolo -La Stalla: 3 hours 2 times per week. |

Golf course: there are 2 golf courses in the area. Tennis courts : Halfway between Marsiliana and Albinia. Mountani bikes rental: in Orbetello. Horseback Riding: a tradition in Maremma. Wonderful treks can be organised with 2 stables on horses of Maremma breed. Sub diving: At Porto Ercole a diving school, organises courses and excursions also to the islands Giglio and Giannutri. The islands: from Porto Santo Stefano there is a ferry service to the island of Giglio, the trip there only takes about one hour and it is really worth it. There is a service also to the island of Giannutri. Hiring a boat: in Porto Santo Stefano at half an hour's drive from Fontanile, you can hire a motor boat with a captain which will take you to the islands of Giglio and Giannutri off the Tuscan coast. The attraction of such an expedition lies not only in the trip itself. Giglio has a charming main village and castle, and many creeks hidden between the cliffs which can only be reached by boat. Giannutri, its bare coastline dominated by ruins of a Roman villa overlooking the sea recalls some of the Greek islands, while deep-sea divers can look for sunken Roman galeons on the sea bed. The beach: the beaches of Maremma are sandy. The water is clean, generally warm from late May to October and calm. One can also hire boats to visit the hidden bays on the islands of Giannutri and Giglio. |
Sightseeing in the vicinity: nearby are the beautiful villages of Pitigliano, Sorano and Sovana. Not far are the hot springs of Saturnia, with famous sulphorous water and elegant spa. The papal city of Viterbo is one hour away, whilst Manciano and the medieval village of Capalbio are only a short drive. Nature: the national park of the "Uccellina" has marked foothpaths which lead you through beautiful pine woods to hidden creeks, past romantic ruins of fortified watch-towers to the Abbey of San Rabano, built by monks who arrived from Rhodes in the 10th century. The Etruscans: a trip through what was known as Etruria is one of the most interesting archeological excursions in Italy. Tarquinia and Tuscania, only 25 km away from the estate, boast worldwide famous archeological excavations which should not be missed. The Argentario: a peninsula just south of Marsiliana, famous for the Meditteranean macchia and the jet-set holiday resorts Porto Santo Stefano and Porto Ercole. The Tarot-Garden of Niki de Saint-Phalle: on one of the hills not far from Marsiliana the famous French artist has built her "Jardin des Tarots", twenty two giant sculpures in ceramic and coloured glass inspired by the figures of the magic tarot cards. The park is open daily from 02.30 to 07.30 in the afternoon, and is shut on Sundays and holidays. The first Saturday of every month the entrance is free. |
Wine and food: fresh vegetables, tender salads, ripe tomatoes, pecorino - the local sheep chees and of course the excellent red wine "Morellino di Scansano" which is gaining considerable attention from experts.
In general: Shopping, Bank, Post Office, Grocery stores, Pharmacy and any other service are in Albinia. They are closed on Sunday except grocery which are closed also thursday in the afternoon. |
