Besides the fascinating history of the building itself and the charm of its location in historic Cortona, the views from the Hotel are absolutely outstanding. The building faces the Valdichiana therefore offering each client the spectacular view of Mount Amiata, Mount Cetona, Lake Trasimeno and the surrounding hills. |
Villa Marsili is situated inside the town walls and dates back as far as the XIV Century where the site actually housed the very old church named Madonna degli Alemanni, as well as an Oratory below. Later in the 1700s, the site held the villa that now has become the beautiful Hotel. |
The present owners have restored it to its original architectural style lost thoughout the centuries. The elegant Hotel hall and bedrooms have been tastefully decorated and frescoed. Each room is furnished with antique furniture and lit with beautiful Murano lights. |
The outdoor space crowns the villa. The main façade is adjacent to a garden area where guests can enjoy their breakfast overlooking the splendour of the valley. The north side yard has been trasformed into a winter garden, which overlooks the ancient house of the the Borgo San Domenico nearby. |
