Very smooth. Finding a parking spot in Montalcino was the hardest part. The owner is very friendly and easy to work with. We had a language barrier, but that did not interfere in the least. ... I only rate as good on #8 because the room was small. It also could have used a simple chair. There was nowhere to sit other than the bed. The aroma of pastry from the shop downstairs was amazing! Every breath was a little bit chocolate. Yum! ... We did have to wait for the wine shop to open before we could leave. He would not let me pay for the room the night before. He was open by 9:30 am so it was no problem to wait. ... The rooms appear to be newly renovated and are very nice. See my comment above about the lack of a place to sit. ... A simple room for rent at a good price in a great location. Be sure to check out the fabulous wine and pastry available in the shops downstairs.

On driving directions: the road signage in the area is quite poor. You might want to go into more detail to help the driver -- so many miles to left turn, sign will say, etc. We were fortunate that the owner was a taxi driver and was able to give us really good directions from the Florence airport to the property. ... The property was a bit spare, but completely clean and tidy, very comfortable and ideally located quite close to the largest piazza in the town. The town itself is charming, clean and lovely. The views into the valley from various spots on the edge of the town are breathtaking. There are several good restaurants, good cafes/bars, nice shops. And, it's a nice town to walk. Also, other notable towns in that area are within day-trip distance (Assisi, Montepulciano, Cortona, etc). The owners/hosts at Affittacamere Mariuccia are delightful -- helpful, warm, friendly, kind, eager to please; one speaks very little English but quickly refers you to the two who speak it better (one fairly well, the other perfectly), if you are unable to speak Italian. All in all, a wonderful experience. ... Easy, pleasant, no snags or misunderstandings. ... Owners have an enoteca a couple of doors away from the property and gave us a little discount on purchases. The also have a nice pastry shop.
Street noise is heard in front bedrooms. We didn't mind it after the first night, but some might find it less than restful. The apartment is a little dark, since it is in a very old building in the center of town. All this said, still it is an excellent value for the money. ... A nice apartment, clean and comfortable, with lovely, friendly, helpful owners/hosts.

The website led me to believe the staff would be willing to set up transportation to the apartment. This was not the case. They also were not helpful in arranging one of the two taxi's found in Montalcino even though they own one of the companies. The apartment was fine but the staff did not help in my desire to return to their place to stay when I definitely return to beautiful Montalcino someday. The apartment is in a great location in the center of Montalcino and because of this it is noisy at night. It didn't bother me but just be prepared for this. ... The descriptions and images were accurate. I felt a little misled by the helpfulness of the staff. ... Checkin is at an Enoteca accross the street from the apartment.
There are only 2 taxi's in the area. Buses may not run every day. The best way to see the area if you want to leave Montalcino and explore is to rent a car. ... A small apartment in the center of Montalcino. Room for one large bed, a small tv (which I didn't touch), a closet and a large bath with shower. A large window overlooking the main street. Very lively at night although Montalcino goes to bed early.

Check-in is across the street at the Enoteca. Very little English spoken, but very friendly. We arrived during business hours - not sure how this would work if arriving during non-business hours. ... Excellent location, nicely decorated, small, central, quiet. Shower head is attached in the bathroom across the toilet with an indentation in the floor - everything gets wet, but it also dries quickly. It seems funny at first, but it works just fine. ... It is a 3-minute walk from the bus stop. ... Very clean, bright, small.

The gorgeous smell from the pasticceria below was an unexpected bonus. ... Compact, but clean and well organised, with a surprisingly large amount of storage space. Its location, right at the heart of beautiful Montalcino and adjacent to exceptionally fine cafes and restaurants, could not be bettered. And the room rate... in an equivalent location in the UK we'd have to pay three times what we paid in Montalcino. Perfetto!

Genuine old town. Friendly relaxed atmosphere. Easy to come in contact with citizens after living in town centre for some days.

I think the only thing you might add to directions is that if you come by car that you need to park outside the city walls.

The reason no-one was there to welcome us was because we arrived after the shop had shut in the evening - this is probably unusual and I managed to contact the owner via another helpful shop assistant next door to the property. It could be useful however to include the shop opening days and times in the information provided when you book so that it is clear when you do need to arrive by. ... Possibly a bit smaller than I was led to believe from the website but adequate never-the-less and clean and comfortable. ... A trendy bed-sit! A self-contained bedroom with open shelving and an interesting bathroom as when having a shower you also washed the entire bathroom! (this was not a problem though as due to the heat it dried out very quickly)

The stove and oven were not in working order with only one jet able to be used at a time and the oven not been able to be used. ... They were very casual about us checking out and said they would be in the shop from 8am but in fact we had to wait around till 9.30am for somebody to arrive. ... Very nice Tuscan style apartment
