In the property you will find a beautiful garden with typical wood table where you can eat, or read or simply stay in relax any time that you decide. Inside there is the "Little Tavern", where you can taste a good wine from our hills or something from the bar or make your itinerary for the next day with our help (if you need it) or simply... nothing. The little parking is reserved only for our guest, inside the property, and can accommodate 6-7 car (no extra charge). |

From Lastra a Signa city centre where you will find: Banks, Post office, supermarket, Cinema, summer-time swimming pool, pub, bar, pizzerias and restaurants. In Lastra a Signa there is also a bus stop well connected with Florence railway station (20-30 min. each 15-60 min. depending on day). The ideal out of town location makes Locandella del Poggio perfect to visit Florence (also by bus), to have day excursions in the countryside (wine, oil, art, history... are only some ideas) or to Chianti, Siena, San Gimignano, Montalcino, Certaldo, Empoli, Vinci, Pisa, Lucca, Montecatini Terme, Garfanana, Mugello.
Many sport and natural activity- You can do bird watching, rent a bike to reach Florence in 12 km by secure path that run following the Arno river, take the Arno Boat for a natural trip by the river till Florence. Walk: there is a beautiful walk from Locandella del Poggio, a path cross the Poggio Vittorio's wood to reach one of the most spectacular and secret view on Florence (1-2 hours on foot). Wine road - "Strada del Vino Chianti Colli Fiorentini" and "Strada Medicea dei Vini di Carmignano" Villas - noble residence with Italian style parks and gardens that are of great artistic and picturesque beauty. (ex. Villa Bellosguardo only 10 min. by car, stands on hill overlooking Ponte di Signa and Castello di Signa) Riding school and excursions - 5 km (10 minutes by car) next to Villa Caruso Golf - Montelupo Fiorentino Golf club, 10 minutes by car Tennis - 5 minutes by car Lakes for fisher - 5 km (10 minutes by car) Swimming pool - 200 mt., 5 minutes on foot - only summertime Lunch and Dinner - There are many restaurants, Pizzerias, etc.. for any budget and taste less than 5 minutes by car, or 10 minutes on foot.
Villa Caruso Bellosguardo, 5 km- The 16th century Villa Bellosguardo stands on a hill overlooking Ponte a Signa and Castello di Signa. The noble Pucci family of Florence had an Italian style park and garden constructed around the Villa and this remains today one of the rare surviving examples of a late renaissance garden in Tuscany. Villa Bellosguardo was restored in 1912 by the great tenor Enrico Caruso who had bought it in a derelict state. Today the Villa is restored thanks to the Municipality of Lastra a Signa, and is a natural focal point for artistic and musical training and education. The park surrounding the Villa contains a series of signs that guide the visitor along a picturesque historical/artistic trail. Concert season are held there during spring and summer. Since April 2001 , Villa Caruso Bellosguardo has housed the Amateur Botanical Library, with the historical archive of Flowers and Fruit set out in the family chapel facing the Italian style gardens. The Villa Caruso farm museum houses agricultural tools, which are now no longer in use in modern farming and keeps animals which have rarely been see by the younger generation. A third section of the museum is dedicated to typical Tuscan wine and food produce and crafts from local consortia and mountain communities. The Villa can be visited during the parks normal opening hours (from 5.00pm to 7.00pm).
The River Park di la' d'Arno (on the left Bank of the Arno)- The River Park di là d'Arno, contains a network of footpaths and cycle ways and a bridle path, all within a rows of hedges and trees. The cycle way is 4.4 metres wide and approximately 3.7 km long and runs in a kind of circle. It also provide a connection with the area of Scandicci. Alongside the cycle way is an open bridle path 3 metres wide. All along this route there are wooden benches, drinking fountains and horse through.
Artimino, Carmignano and Vinci- This is an interesting route that could be follow easy in 1 hour or 1 day. There are several church and Villas, historical sites, wine and oil factory and it is simple arrive in Vinci (where there is the home and Museum of Leonardo) and visit the Certaldo castle, crossing hill by hill in a natural and unknown landscape. Along the route there are also several unknown little museums. |
