A MUST stay experience

We were picked up and taken by taxi to our
hotel. It was a very smooth and easy
experience for us.

It was surprisingly better than we expected.
The rooms were perfectly clean and beautifully
decorated and the owners were so accomodating.
Our stay was a wonderful experience and would
recommend to anyone.

Best of both worlds as is in the country, but
only a 15 minute walk to the town of San
Gimignano. Very friendly and accomodating
staff. Beautiful views from the rooms and a
great wine bar in every room.

Roberto Viani came out to meet us as we drove
up in front of the Locanda. This was an
indication of the wonderful hospitality that
we received from Roberto and his wife Paola
throughout our stay.

Every aspect of our stay met or exceeded our
expectations. We ate dinner twice at the
Locanda and the quality of chef Paola's food
was truly spectacular.

The Locanda Viani is now one of our favourite
places to stay. Roberto and Paola Viani
provide a warm but discrete level of
hospitality that is hard to beat. If you
visit you must be sure to have dinner at
least once during your stay as Paola is an
exceptional chef. She specializes in
traditional Tuscan dishes and uses only the
best local ingredients. The accommodation is
very comfortable spotlessly maintained.

We were greeted immediately, shown to our room and welcomed with coffee and home made biscuits.

The owners were delightful. We enjoyed an amazing meal on our second night of traditional Tuscan fare, cooked by Puala. This really added to the Tuscan experience.

Now that we have visited Tuscany, we would recommend that everyone hire a car. This was not at the fault of the owners, purely from our ignorance to the region. We chose this accommodation for the proximity to San Gimignano, and didn't realise it was such a small town and really should have hired a car to explore further.

A true Tuscan experience. Everything that you would dream of for a Tuscan stay...amazing view (to the vineyards and San Gimignano), welcoming owners and cosy rooms.

We were able to choose our suite because we arrived on a Sunday afternoon. We chose to stay downstairs and in a smaller room. We were tired and had maximum luggage. the downstairs room had a patio area and a view ofSan G. It was fine.

The man was very helpful and diligent. is wife could not speak good English and was less helpful .She could not help us with the cable Tv when it went out. It was never turned on again after the first night, although we tried to check for English news daily. She was efficient in making breakfast, which was always the same. She was a chef, but did not cook dinner at night for us as was offered on Wednesday. That was cancelled for no reason except, 'it's not possible' ? Loocation is great. Not too far from the town.

Nice lane behind leading through farmland down into the valley.
Part of a small developing community on a hill outside of San Gimignano. Too much development could affect its charm.

yes, they actually offer a fabulous gourmet dinner each nite if you are interested ( extra cost of course, but well worth it) they also have a wonderful selection of very fine wines.

San Gimigano is the best little town in Tuscany in our opinion. With it's beautiful cobblestone street and wonderful shopping. And, Locanda Viani was one of the highlights of our trip to Italy. We absolutely will return again to Locanda Viani.

without a doubt Vecchia Mura!

Locanda Viani was the highlight of our trip to Tuscany. In every way it met and surpassed our expectations, and I will freely admit that these were high! We enjoyed our stay with Roberto and Paola so much, that we invited them to stay with us if they ever find themselves with the opportunity to visit Canada.

If you are in Tuscany you have to stay at Locanda Viani. The villa is immaculate and offers a breathtaking view of the Tuscan landscape and postcard views of San Gimignano. Paola's meals are historic and second to none, and Roberto and Paola are absolutely charming and saw to our every whim and need. We will be going back.

The inn is situated in a little neighborhood outside the city of San Gimignano. You only need one day to see SG but it is very nice to have lunch and dinner choices just a 15 minute walk away. There are also many places in SG for purchasing wine, cheese, etc. which you can enjoy on your balcony or the front patio. Rooms were cosy and extremely clean. Loved having our own balcony. The owners did everything possible to make us comfortable and happy. We had dinner in the dining room on arrival and loved it so much, we reserved it for our departure night as well. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious (home made pastries!). We had a car for touring and found many beautiful drives on our day trips. Our friends in the other two rooms enoyed visiting a nearby spa. There were also hiking trails right off the property. Roberto can direct you where to go on a day of walking the countryside. The owners do not speak English but all of us communicated somehow.

Much better than any hotel stay we had arranged on this trip, the Bed & Breakfast arrangement is definitely the way to go!

We had the Green and Yellow rooms. The Green
room was smaller than we thought it would be,
but it was still fine. I would recommend the
Yellow room for anyone who had a choice. We
did not see the other rooms.

All in all, it was a little on the expensive
side (rooms and meal), but it was a really
nice experience and Paola and Roberto were so
wonderful, that we didn't mind paying extra
for the stay.

The Locanda is a little further from San
Gimignano than we expected, but it was still
close enough to walk if you wanted (about a 15
minute walk). The view to the tower hill town
from the Locanda was really great.

We loved it! You must make time to have
dinner at the Locanda (reservations required)
because the meal was really a treat - a
combination of medievil and contemporary
cuisine. Neither Paola nor Roberto speaks
English, so practice your Italian! However,
even though my Italian was pretty poor and
they didn't speak English, we managed to
communicate pretty well. We would definitely
go back!
