Map due to be updated. Otherwise our hosts fell over backwards welcoming us and immediately made us feel at home. Absolutely brilliant.

Fantastic. Never before have we stayed in such a friendly and welcoming establishment. Paulo and Alexia where always accomodating and full of advise about local attractions. The restuarants that where recommended where absolutely brilliant:)
As soon as we can, we will definitely be visiting La Locanda di Filo again. From the people, to the location and service this has definitely been the best holiday!

The people. Never have I met people who are so willing to please.
The location. Set in a green belt area, the location is quite and with a great view of the Tuscan mountain ranges.
The food. Although we only ate once at the villa, the meal prepared by Alexia was absolutely outstanding. Whether this was a once off, I have no idea, but is definitely worth the mention.

OUTSTANDING! Our kind of place. Relaxed and friendly with the best advice a first time visitor to the region can do with!
This was like staying with friends!

We had quite problems finding the accommodation, but that was because we came from another direction. We phoned the place and they were very friendly and gave us very good direction via phone. No problems finding the place then.

We were a little bit disappointed by the pool.
The breakfast wasn't very big but I also know Italians don't have a huge breakfast but I guess some people from other countries might be very disappointed about breakfast.

I was disappointed with the accomodation, it was clean and basic but for the price i paid and for the location, it was not up to my expectations. Toilet didn't always flush and could have supplied a second toilet roll and fresh towels on the 2nd day.
During my stay in Tuscany, I stayed in hotels in Sienna and Florence for the same price and the standard of accomodation was much superior.
Photos on the website were misleading e.g. swimming pool

Directions from Viareggio were poor, got completely lost.
Distance from Lucca is very misleading.
Accomodation is very isolated from local amenties, car is essential.

Very basic, remote. Only suitable for families.

La Locanda di Filo was nice, pieceful and quiet place and I already have recommend it to some of my friends who are going to travel to around Toscana. It is not far from many historical and beautiful places in Toscany (Pisa, Florence, Lucca, San Gimniano, Cinque Terres, Sienna) and especially coming from Nord Europe you can reach the City Pisa by direct flights from Helsinki, Stockholm, Copenhagen.

Although fit for purpose, the room could be modernised/decorated to a higher standard.
The electrical power supply seems a little irratic as well as was the mains water pressure.

owner did not speak english which was stated they did and there was no access to the kitchen for tea, coffee etc. outside of breakfast time. Breakfast was pretty poor and unvaried.
