I was initially booked in a much nicer (and much more expensive) room. I asked the receptionist how much the room was, and she quoted a price that was significantly more than what I thought was on the voucher. When she realized the mistake I had to move to another room.

I had asked for a quiet room, and for the most part it was. However, one day I was ill and stayed in the room until 1 pm. At 11:30 sharp I discovered the balcony of my 'quiet room' was next to the playground of a grade school and at that time there were 30 screaming, yelling children about 20 feet from my room.

I was ready to pay my bill on the last night I was there. The lady at the desk said don't worry about it, do it tomorrow. Kind of refreshing in a way, but I was ready to pay then and there. I just chalked it up to the Italian manner of 'Domani, domani, domani.' Whereas, in the U.S. it's get as much as you can as fast as you can and never say no to an opportunity to get your hands on money.

I don't remember what's on the website, but it might be good to mention how many meters the hotel is from the Florentine Gate and the Roman Ampitheater--they are probably no more than 50 meters away.
I don't know if you would want to mention that the hotel backs up to a grade school--if I had known I still would have stayed at the hotel but I would have asked for a different room.

In spite of the problems initially with the wrong room, repacking, and moving to another room, and the new room being right next to a grade school playground, I think LaLocanda is a wonderful hotel with a very helpful and courteous staff.

The only problem was that from our room (304) you could hear wery clearly people in the next room. The last night of our stay there was a bunch of people talking aloud until late making difficult to have a good rest. Accoustic insulation from room to room was poor.

A nice place to spend three days in an splendid environment.
