Profile |
Montepulciano is a fascinating village that seems to have stopped time at Piazza San Francesco, a square in the historical centre with two main buildings: the San Francesco church, from the 14th century, and right besides it, the Locanda. The lodging, opened in July 2006 after a year of restorations, works in the building that used to be occupied by the Oratorio di Sant`Emilio e della Misericordia. |
During the works carried out for renovations, many old treasures were discovered, like the "stanza segreta", a secret room with ancient walls that became a sitting room for the suite now. As the Locanda is placed on a high point in the historical part of Montepulciano, views are also part of the charm: from different windows in the chambers, you may enjoy a panorama of Piazza San Francesco, the Val di Chiana and the Val D`Orcia, two marvellous valleys spreading out with vineyards and greenery. |
A continental breakfast is served every morning in a spacious room on the ground floor or in the panoramic terrace during Summer time and on request. For snacks or drinks guests visit the "...e lucevan le stelle" wine bar and bistrot, within the same building of the property and facing Piazza San Francesco. |
