Profile |
In the center of Tuscany on top of a hill, in the heart of the Chianti Region, lies the medieval hamlet of Livernano. First inhabited by etruscans and later occupied by the rommans, it was used as a stronhold in the Middle Ages. The small romanic church dates from the 11th century. Most parts of the present buildings are dating back to the 12th century. |
After the quarrels between Siena and Florence in the 17th century Livernano became a quiet farmervillage which was abandoned in 1953 as a result of World War II. It regained new life in 1990, when the present owner started the complete restoration of the whole property. So today, Livernano is a winery producing exclusive delicate wines, excellent olive oil and other natural products. On 7.3 Ha. of it’s total surface of 64 Ha., vineyards were planted containing 9 different varieties. In the olive grove an additional 1200 trees were planted. |
Two houses have been completely redisigned to accomodate guests, who can enjoy the bucolic peace and soft beauty of this little corner of paradise in grand style. The owner and staff will be pleased to introduce you to the historical environment and characteristics of Tuscany’s life-style and culture.
