Profile

La Limonaia is a single family home with a private, landscaped, secure entrance and
ample parking in a splendid setting of formal gardens, olive orchards, woods and fields.

The entire structure was painstakingly restored between 1993 and 1996. Its name derives from the fact that during the last century it was used by the owners of the baronial Villa Albergotti (next door across a courtyard) to store their lemon trees during the winter months.

However, the building may have originally been conceived of as a guesthouse, given the fact that
its entrance is graced with columns identical to those used for the family chapel adjacent to the Villa.

La Limonaia's gothic windows and its position in a formal
garden adorned with wrought iron gates, columns and a fountain also suggest a higher purpose.

Although the age of the Villa Albergotti is well documented, with construction having commenced in the fifteenth century,
La Limonaia's age is uncertain. A nearby well dates from 1850.
