By car from Florence: from A1 highway exit at "Firenze Certosa" and follow signs for Siena. Exit at "Poggibonsi Nord". Then follow the blue signs to San Gimignano.
By car from Siena: Take the toll free motorway to Florence. Pay attention to take the "Poggibonsi" juction which is 27 Km from Siena. Then follow the blue signs to San Gimignano.
By car from Pisa: Follow signs for Florence and take the toll free motorway signed "FI-PI-LI". Continue towards Florence and exit at "Ponte a Elsa". Here take the S248 road to "Certaldo" and then follow the signs for San Gimignano which is 12 km away.
Once you arrive to the exterior of the city walls of San Gimignano, you must drive all the way around them following directions for Parking n.3 Bagnaia. Once you pass Parking n.3 Bagnaia you will reach a traffic light where you will enter the old town. There, even if a sign says "allowed to residents" you may go ahead. Drive through the gate of the walls at Porta San Jacopo and continue for about 200 metres. Then take the second street on your left and continue straight for about 300 metres until you reach a traffic light. Then drive through the small gate and after 50 metres turn right and continue straight until you reach the hotel.
Good to know:
Access to the center restricted area to load and unload only: during high season there is a public shuttle service available from the parking lots outside the walls to the city center. Operating hours are every 30 minutes from 8.40 untill 19.00. We suggest our clients to leave theri car at the Parking Giubile n°1, buy the ticket and catch the shuttle bus. |
