 San Gimignano is world famous for its towers. In the middle age every family had its tower and often they build it higher over night to be higher than the other towers. But no one was allowed to have a higher tower than the town hall... History tells of fights between the towers, but also of hanging bridges from tower to tower to visit friends... This pic was made from the Torre Grossa, the highest tower. Itīs open for visitors and you should climb up there!!! Around San Gimignano you will find a beautiful scenery, with lots of hills what the Tuscany is well known for. |
