Made very welcome ... Hostess very helpful with transport to bus stop where we got taxi to station ... You have to depend on local buses if you do not have a car.Although they were good they stop early in the evening You MUST like animals espescially cats. There are also horses and friendly dogs.
... The accommodation is rustic and comfotable and you feel you are experincing a real tuscanny olive farm lifestyle which hotels cannot reproduce. We especially liked sitting outside under the fig tree eating and sharing our time with other guests. The olive oil that the farm produces is sweet. The hostess is very kind and all her recommendations as to where you eat locally were very satisfatory especially Zibibloo the local cooking school. At night it was quiet unless the dogs were disturbed by local wildlife. We really enjoyed our stay as we felt we had the best of both worlds .The city life of Florence and a real taste of Tuscan farm life and hospitality.

We were welcomed with hugs and kisses. What more is there to say ... Graziella our host treated us like family. We even went to the market together. Overall a very pleasnt stay and was very sad to leave ... Beautiful house up in the tuscan hills, away from it all, but only a short bus ride to the city centre. Amazing scenery!!

Our stay at Il Poggiolo was made more enjoyable because of the very helpful owner. She went out of her way to provide assistance whenever we required it. She was also very generous in picking us up and dropping us off to transport when we needed it.
We would highly recommend Il Poggiolo to anyone who is looking for a 'home' near Firenze. ... It is 'home away from home'

Graziella Camilloni, at Il-Poggiolo, had sent us detailed information about how to get to the farm and we had no problems finding it. She served us tea and biscuits when we arrived and answered all our questions. ... It was thanks to Graziella that our stay in Florence was really, really good. She had reserved tickets for us at the Uffize Gallery and Accademie. This meant that we got to see the works of art that we had come to see. If we had been obliged to queue for a long time to get tickets I don`t think we could have managed in that heat. Also Graziella recommended good restaurants, so we had some very good meals. She drew many maps for us so we could find our destinations. ... Il-Poggiolo is a place we have already recommended highly to people we know.

Exit should be listed as Florence North and not include Peretola - while Peretola is reached that way that is not what the signage reads. Directions should emphasize reaching the town of Careggi - we found directions to that but not the other listed signs. Once Careggi is reached everything was fine. ... Wonderful place but an even more wonderful hostess. ... Many wonderful animals also live on the property. Good view of downtown Florence. Three Tuscan restaurants within five minutes drive. ... Your chance to see if Under The Tuscan Sun is your dream home as well.

The Il Poggiolo Bed & Breakfast is a bit difficult to find based on the directions given. The B&B is situated on a hill outside of Florence and is partly a converted farm amids an olive grove. The initial direction to the property require a bit of improvement but, once having reached the premises (by calling Graziella to drive down and guide us the final set of roads), it was easy to remember how to get back and forth to the B&B. We found that renting cell phones that operated in Italy before we left was a great convenience and is recommended. ... The Il Poggiolo Bed & Breakfast was one of the best places we stayed during our trip to Italy. The proprietor, Graziella, was marvelous in reserving tickets to museums and in preparing Florentine dinners in the evenings. The B&B is situated on a hill outside of Florence and is partly a converted farm amids an olive grove. The initial direction to the property require a bit of improvement but, once having reached the premises (by calling Graziella to drive down and guide us the final set of roads), it was easy to remember how to get back to the B&B. Also, even though the property is located a bit removed from the city, there is a fanastic ristorante 2 kilometers further up the road so that after a long day, if you wanted the freedom of selecting meals from a menu without driving back down to the city, it was available. I would recommend Il Pogglio highly, it's a wonderful accommodation for a trip to Florence and the surrounding Tuscany region! ... We were sad to leave but hope to return next year.

Good selection of a wide variety of accommodations. ... I liked the abundance of actual photos of the grounds as well as the rooms. ... I was not aware of this feature. ... I was also not aware of this feature. ... I liked having a printed confirmation in hand when I reached the lodging. ... We were picked up right from Florence airport by our host, which greatly relieved our stress after a long, tiring flight. ... We enjoyed the personal attention, and the extras, such as help with transportation to Florence. ... We did have to pay in Euros, as they were not set up to accept credit card payment. ... There are three friendly dogs, and several cats on the premises, so someone who either does not like pets, or has an allergy involving dogs or cats would have a problem. For us it was no problem. ... I like being able to see what I am reserving. I also like the empowerment of planning my own itinerary, rather than depending on the services of a busy travel agent. ... Il Poggiolo felt like a home away from home. Some dust in the corners, but very friendly and accommodating.

Our hostess met us at the train station and drove us to the property, stopping at a store so that we could buy provisions for our dinner that night. This was much appreciated. ... The property was average, but in keeping with the price. It was out of town and quiet, which is what we wanted. Our hostess Graziella was very helpful and went out of her way to make us feel welcome. ... Our hostess drove us to the station on the morning of our departure, very early in the morning! ... It would not be easy to find your way there if you had not been there before. The bus service from Florence to Il Poggiolo is not very frequent when trying to return. Our hostess though went out of her way to make arrangements to collect us from a point down the road. ... Very homely, rustic and part of the real Italy as opposed to staying in a conventional hotel accommodation.

The directions published online were clear up to the point where we should go in Florence in order to take the local road to the Bed and Breakfast. From there on, we had to stop several times to ask for help to locals, not always clear or complete. To make things worse, there are two different 'Via del Belvedere' roads - the adress of Il Poggiollo. Some signs on the road of Serpiole and Cercina would be of great help. ... Il Poggiolo is a Bed & Breakfast run by its owner, a very nice and helpful lady. She did all she could to make our stay the most pleasant. ... I think you should point out out the privacy experienced by the guests and the fact that there are only two rooms available. It should also be said that the local bus does not run at all times, so a car is a must (or you have to rely on the owner to pick you up or leave you in town). ... I would describe Il Poggiolo as a very relaxing place to stay - nice surroundings, beautiful stone house, and a dedicated owner that makes her best to please her guests.

We were hopelessly lost trying to find it...but it was no one's fault...as Graziella was to pick us up at the train station and we were unable to find each other. You need to post the EXACT BUS connections to this B&B. We were able to get there but it would have been easier with this information.
Take any bus (no.14 etc.) to Dalmazia 1, walk forward 1 block to circular bus stop for #43 and 43B. Take either of these buses that go PAST Serpiole (sp?) and stay on until you get to the stop at the foot of Il Pogglio's driveway....a sign is posted....at the top are your accommodations! ... For a 'winter-spring' stay it was COLD in the room but plenty of down comforters were available for a great sleep.
Graziella was extremely helpful, had each days bus connections available, shuttled us to and from Florence if needed, let us use a cell phone for the stay, coffee in room! (really important to us), Took us to the train station for departure (a real chore in traffic). She is gracious, helpful and goes above and beyond....English is good. ... There are cats, dogs and horses on the property which would be detrimental to someone with severe allergies....BUT MAKE IT PLAIN...that neither cats nor dogs are allowed anywhere inside the accommodations...no evidence of such during our stay and 2 of us have cat allergies but had NO PROBLEMS! ... It was a roomy apartment with all the ammenities needed, in-room coffee & bottled water, microwave, refrig. Overlook views were fabulous and the peace and quiet were worth the effort to stay out of the city. Bus connections were excellent and the owner was more than helpful. She will make museum reservations, offer use of a cell phone, shuttle to and from Florence (if needed) and over-all eager to please.

Graciela and her son were gracious and kind hosts. We paid the extra and ate a meal prepared by Graciela which was delicious. They picked us up in Florence and returned us to the airport. ... Beautiful olive farm complete with horse, cats, dogs and the sounds of distant animals. Peacefulness and rest will best describe the time I had at Il Poggiolo.

Very difficult to find way to B&B but owner came to meet to guide home. ... Not as easy to get in to Florence as we had expected. Buses infrequent and hard to identify which to take to get to Il Poggiolo Bed & Breakfast. It was necessary to take 2 buses and was hard to synchronize the tomes for each route. ... Charming B&B with interesting host

Graziella is one of the most gracious hosts. The property needs better quality beds. ... Graziella went beyond expectations to help us and she personally escorted to Firenze Centrale at 3.45am. She made herself available to pick us up at anytime, even during the bus strike in Firenze. ... Make it very clear that the superior apartment does not have cooking facilities and that although it is suitable for four people, the beds are in the same room. Lack of privacy. ... A rustic farm house in quiet setting, with the most gracious host anywhere.

It was a lot further out in the country than we expected. ... Graziella was very friendly, but the ease of getting to and from town using public transportation was not as easy or convenient as stated. For example, we had to leave downtown Florence each night by 19.00 otherwise we had to hire a taxi. The closeness of restaurants were quoted as 'within walking distance.' When Graziella drove us there, it was a long car ride along a narrow, dark road; not very conducive to walking to and from. ... If you are wanting to cover a lot of sites in a short amount of time, this would not be the place to stay. I could see this being a good place for families looking to spend a week or more in one location as a homebase (and with a car), but not for people looking to see Florence and the surrounding area in a couple of days.
