CASTELLO IL CORNO is at the centre of a typical Tuscan farm estate that extending for about 210 HC over hill area in the immediate vicinity of Florence. It has more that 70 HC of specialised vineyards and about 10.000 olive trees.
 
Only half an hour’s drive south of Florence, yet in superbly unspoiled Chianti countryside, CASTELLO IL CORNO is a superior quality estate known for award-winning wines and olive oil.

In a marvellous location overlooking a classic view of Chianti hills and vineyards, the estate provides rustic Tuscan simplicity with an extra touch of comfort and quality.
 
A perfect Tuscan manor house dating back to the 13 th century is the hub of the award winning wine and olive oil production of Castello IL CORNO, owned by Count and Countess Frova who live in the main house.

A reception room is used for wine and oil tasting as well as occasional local functions, and excellent wine, olive oil, spumante and grappa from the estate can be purchased. Furthermore, "Cinta Senese" cured meat produced on the estate, thanks to the recovery of an antique breed of pigs. And the estate also harvest spelt.

About 500 yards away another large farmhouse, IL CORNUZZO, has been restored in 1996 to provide good quality apartments. From both houses there are
a gorgeous views of unspoiled Chianti countryside. This is a particularly good area for restaurants and from the little town of San Casciano, 4 miles away, there is a very convenient hourly bus service to Florence.

Castello Il Corno Historical Profile:

Owned in the 13th century by the old Florentine family Del Corno, which apparently originated there, this one of the finest and oldest estate in the Val di Pesa. In the 1523 Filippo Strozzi’s widow Selvaggia purchased it from Agnolo di Buonaiuto Serragli for and on behalf of her sons, Lorenzo and Filippo. It belonged to the Counts Frova since 1911.
