I went with the 'full board' option because I had never visited the area, didn't know if we were renting a car, and wasn't familiar with restaurants (availability) in the area. Because we had a car, and there were SO many places to eat on the island, we found that we were rarely eating at the hotel, the staff asked if we would like to change from full board to half board to save money. I thought that was very kind of them, and it saved us over $700 total. I would suggest anyone staying there who has a rental should go with B&B or maybe half board. ... There's a wallking trail on the rocks above the water which goes through a private cave and ends at a private beach. It was one of the most amazing experiences I had there.
Postal services are not available from the Hotel.

Everything was terrific except that according to the desk manager, they do not activate anyone's air-conditioning until after July 1st. Having some AC at night would have made the stay better.
The service was the best I've seen. Very professional.

I did not read carefully enough that the prices were per person. I think it is more common to list the price of a room rather than the per person cost. It was more expensive than I had anticipated. Again, I should have read more carefully. ... The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. It was their opening weekend so I can see within a month or so how spectacular it will be. They were still getting the place up and going (filling the pool, remodeling public bathrooms, etc.)That was a little disappointing.
We loved one of our waiters in particular - he fussed over our baby and made our dining experience so much more enjoyable. I wish I could remember his name because he was so sweet! ... Directions to the hotel. There are directions to take the ferry from Piombino but there were no directions on the site once you reach Portoferraio. We stopped in a tourist info center near the docks to get a map. ... It was a summer resort that mostly Italians and Germans stay at. It may sound funny but it was refreshing that everyone did not speak English fluently(there were several people who did). Everywhere else in Italy, they seemed to cater to English and American tourists so it was nice to practice some Italian and see how Italians vacation. You didn't really need to leave the resort for anything - lots of amenities, restaurant, activities, etc.

Beautiful location. Very pleasant hotel. Very good service, especially in restaurants. Food good but not quite up to expectations.
