The Alfani family was enormously friendly and helpful. Francesca was particularly accommodating in helping us find good restaurants and things to do in the area. My one suggestion is that they offer an optional breakfast service-- something simple, like coffee and fresh bread. We had gotten used to that in the hotels we stayed at and weren't fond of getting in the car each morning to get fresh bread. Of course, we knew there wouldn't be breakfast coming into it, so there were no surprises. But we really missed it. Also, the group dinner was not really worth the amount paid.
These comments should not, however, detain anyone from visiting Greppi di Silli. It is very conveniently located; the grounds are beautiful; there are bikes, lawn bowling, ping pong, hiking trails, a hammock, a grill, chickens, and a swimming pool right on the grounds. They harvest wine, olive oil, and honey on the property.
The views (particularly at sunset) are amazing; the accommodations are very comfortable and spacious.

Down to earth; relaxed; tranquil; unpretentious; authentic; pretty and comfortable, but not overly manicured or fancy (which is what we like).

At the time of our reservation, the desired unit was unavailable for the first night, so we chose to stay in another for that night. We were delighted to find that we were able to stay in our preferred unit for the entire stay, right from the first night!
We used a GPS to find the farm. Without it, I'm afraid the directions would have been confusing - I'm sure mostly because of our inability to speak Italian.

The property was wonderful; absolutely gorgeous. Very quiet and private. Our hosts were very friendly and hospitable.

As we arrived later than normal check-in, Michele was waiting for us and took care of all all needs. He gave us a personal tour of the apartment and offered any assistance that we may need. We could not have been happier with the reception that we received!!!

Michele and Francesca were very hospitable hosts at I Greppi Di Silli. They received important messages and ensured that we received them at any hour. Every need of ours was taken care of. The facilities were outstanding and the location and scenery were breath taking. We were not disappointed with anything.

His tour of the winery and wine tasting can't be missed. Francesca's smile and ability to communicate with all of the guests made everyday a delight to look forward to. The family atmosphere and friendliness of everyone is something that you can't put into words but must experience it to fully appreciate it.

We have been on many extended vacations at home and internationally. Our stay at I Greppi Di Silli was at the top of the list for hospitality, comfort, location and just overall fun. Italy, especially Tuscany, is a beautiful country and the stay at I Greppi Di Silli made it even more beautiful.

The place is gorgeous, and the hosts were great.
I was not aware of the fact that they provided
activities for the people staying there. These
were very nice, although we were not able to
take advantage of them. Thus, it gave a more
friendly interaction to the week.

Again, the hosts made available a series of
activities to the guests that we were not
aware of before we arrived. These were
intended to enhance the stay in Tuscany and
a stay on a working farm especially. The laundry is in a separate building and there could be problems getting to use it. It also
costs a little extra, but this is minor. Actually, we loved the place.

was gorgeous, and although it was a steep climb
to get to the place, it was worth it. It also
was quiet, and generally cool at night, so the
lack of air conditioning was not a problem. The hosts were wonderful and very friendly. They
made sure you were happy and had everything you needed.

Very friendly and helpful. The holiday started as soon as we started driving up the track to the farm.
In future, location plan could include the AGIP garage in S Casciano, so it is not confused with the AGIP near Mercatale

Only recommendation would be to replace ceiling light with a fan in the bedrooms, as it was very hot at night.

From our apartment (rabbits house) the sunset was fantastic, highlighting mountains that were not visisble during the day. Maybe a photo of the sunset from our terrace should be included on site as drinking wine in the evenings with those views was a real pleasure

Excellent accommodation with Tuscan charm, a swimming pool with views over the countryside making it the perfect place to relax and get away from it all. Also a great location with local restaurants and shops nearby and the busier tourist centres all easily reached within the hour

Yes. It should be made clear that a rental car is necessary to get to the location and that a breakfast basket is an additional cost item that is recommended.

I Greppi DiS illi is a beautiful working olive/honey/grape farm with wonderful and spacious accomodations,beautiful landscaping, a home-like feel and friendly owners. The owner, Michele speaks very good English and he is very helpful in explaining the facilities and surrounding towns and resources.

death in the family during our stay. I
must say that out of respect for them, we
tried to give them more privacy by not
requesting tours of the property and
their facilities for producing oil.
Although not their fault, an opportunity
I sadly missed.

The owners accomodated our family's early arrival with 3 children jet lagged from Rome before 4:00 - they were very gracious and accomodating to us all.

The property and owners family made our stay a highlight of ouir trip to Itlay - for all ages 4-50. The property was extraordinary and the hosts exceptionally gracious, kind and accomodating.

We will certainly recommend it to friends as an exceptionally lovely place to stay - close to Florence, Siena and many other wonderful sites in Chianti and Tuscany; wonderfully friendly, accomodating and conscientious owners, beautiful pool and accomodation. Excellent accomodation, the whole feel of the place was one of a relaxed atmosphere, the Alfarni family were great hosts and should be commended for putting so much thought in to the nicer things they provide to make it an excellent stay.
Both myself and my wife would and possibly will re-visit Italy, and this accomodation would be top of our list. We would aslso highly reccomend it to friends and relatives.

It was difficult to see the road in San Casciano marked Sp92, so we missed it the first time. The people at I Greppi di Silli are fantastic.

Wonderful stay - we would stay again and highly recommend it. They provided us with maps of the area, which was very useful as well as an excellent tour of the vineyard and wine making facility. We had a great time. Thank you.

There was a bit of discomfort at first, since we had made arrangements for our son and his family to stay in their RV on the grounds for a nominal fee, but the hosts realized afterwards that, because of the steep, narrow, winding drive, he would not be able to bring the RV up their main entrance road. Wisely, they posted a sign at the bottom of the drive, saying 'Closed to RV', and when our son arrived, they showed him another, flatter way to drive in. It all worked out fine.

Since we were there in the off-season, the host family was busy with holiday preparations, and not always available to answer questions, etc. A request for clean towels was not filled for at least 2 days. On the whole, however, they were most hospitable and helpful.

A warning about the steep, narrow, winding drive might be helpful, with directions to the alternate, more level, entrance.

The pictures of the room in which we stayed (Congliera) do not do it justice. They make it appear much smaller than it in fact is.
