We arrived two hours earlier than we were expected and the owners kindly gave us instant access. Because we were early there was no one who spoke English, the lady who showed us the accomodation was very patient with our limited Italian and took great trouble to make sure we had all the information we needed regarding shopping for food before the shops closed.

We had a wonderful stay and could find very, very little to find fault with. The only suggestion we might make is that the satellite dish for the TV was tuned/pointing to a German satellite and we were unable to locate any English speaking stations (aside from CNN. We had practiced our Italian but not our German!!

Spotlessly clean, peaceful and secluded. It really was a super place to relax in and a great base to tour the local area from. We hope to return one day.

We needed more detail on the actual driving directions once in the village as the streets were not sign posted, and there was no signage from the main road. There was some confusion on languages at the beginning but not really a problem.

This is an amazing property with alot of history and incredible grounds around each of the particular villas for walking tracks etc. A real surprise awaits.

This property is in a great location for visiting Northern Italy, with alot to see and do within 1 hour in any direction. Make sure you taste everything in the supplied wine cellar.

Yes - it is quite a distance from Lucca and a vehicle is pretty well essential.

The Villa Ghiaia aranged transportation for us from the airport in Pisa. This was much appreciated since the property is a little difficult to find the first time.

The property was lovely and very well equipped. The only thing that should be emphasized is that there is a considerable walk to local transportation and a car is a necessity if you are unable to walk 2-3kn up and down hills
