The Swimming Pool: On summertime, the sun starts to warm the swimming pool very early (at 7 am) and you will be tempted to dive in even before breakfast. The transparency of the water takes on a hue of palest blue in contrast with the surrounding pink stones, making the pool seem naturally dug out of the rocks. The location of the pool gives you the impression of swimming towards the city, or you can relax under the jet of the hydromassage. At evening time, after a day's touring, this is the best place to relax while you watch the swallows flying over and drinking the water, the sun sets and colours the sky pink over the towers and roofs of Siena. |
The Breakfast: Breakfast is carefully prepared in Frances' kitchen, which she is especially proud of. She personally makes the very different jams and marmalades from the estate fruits: lemon, above all, from the beautiful plants in the garden, and fig or blackberry jam, following the season and the availability of fruit. But in the Breakfast Menu, in addition to the classical Continental breakfast richest list, you can also have tastings of typical tuscan products, as Cheeses: Pecorino di Pienza DOP [Origin Denomination Protected], or Tuscan Salumi, or eggs, however you want, cooked espressly for you at the moment. If our list isn't enough, on request, you can also have French Toasts with maple or homemade lemon syrup, or fresh products of Pastry, fresh orange juice and our own production of Extra Virgin Olive Oil IGP (Geographical Protected Indication) tasting ( the "bruschetta") and other specialties as extras. More than a breakfast, it is the Sunday Brunch! Each day the breakfast table is laid in a different colour. When, in springtime, it is served in the historical garden on old forged iron tables, one is carried away by the blooming of the old roses or by the perfume of calycanthus, wistaria, and of the zagare's perfum from centuries old terracotta pots of lemon trees. ...When, in summertime, it is served under the cool loggia, you can enjoy the view of fields of wheat and of the swimming-pool reflecting the panorama of the city. |
The Garden: The garden forms part of a plan to embellish the Villa commissioned by the forbears of the present owners in the first half of the nineteenth century. The architect was almost certainly A. Fantastici, and the project was completed with the building of the "Limonaia" in 1853. On a guided tour with Frances you may admire details such as the elegant "bird-cage" in the form of a small temple. Beyond the yew hedge remain other features of the original design, the stone edged beddins, decorated gothic niches and the fish-pond cistern. Unusual sweet smelling plants and the handsome collection of ornamental lemon pots make this a memorable visit to a truly "secret garden". |
A large private, shaded parking area, and mountain bikes to wander around are at our guests' disposal. In the main new lounge are available: a reading sofa, an Internet point, magazines, books, a satellite TV, a card/chess table and a small "Wine shop" with a selection of the most famous Tuscan Red Wines (Chianti, Brunello di Montalcino, Nobile di Montepulciano) and our own production Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
