 Your host, Sandro Benini, is a fourth generation baker who, every morning, produces an array of freshly baked breads, cakes, pizzas and biscotti. He is also a tenor of 'bel canto' and he has recently produced a CD of well-known and well-loved Italian songs. He likes to provide his guests at the villa with an authentic Tuscan experience by combining these two passions in a Tuscan evening of food and song, which can be arranged on request.

 Banks:Open in the morning from 8.20 to 1.20 and in the afternoon from 2.30 to 3.30.
Closed Saturday and Sunday. The closest bank is in Tosi (4km) and other banks are located in Reggello (10km) and Pontassieve (10km).
Post Office:Open Monday to Saturday from 8.15 am to 1.30 am. There is a post office in the square in Donnini. Stamps are also on sale at the tobacconists in the village.
Petrol Stations:Nearest petrol station is situated in Tosi (4km) and is open from 7.20 am to 12.30 am and from 3.30 pm to 7.30 pm. Self service petrol stations are open 24 hours. The closest is in Rignano sull'Arno (7km). There is also one in Reggello on the way to Cascia and another one past Pontassieve, on the right side of the main road.
Food shops:Closed every day for lunch break (1.00 pm - 4.00 pm approx.) and on Wednesday afternoon and all day Sunday. However, some local shops open until about 12.30 am on Sunday. Italian and some foreign newspapers are available in Donnini. |
 Supermarkets:There is a small supermarket (Coop) located beside the property in Donnini.
Larger supermarkets are located in Pontassieve (closed Monday am and all day Sunday) and Figline Valdarno (closed Wednesday pm and all day Sunday).

"I Gigli": Prato A11 motorway exit Prato Est (direction Pisa Nord).

 Markets in Florence
San Lorenzo Market open all day from Monday to Saturday during Summer and from Tuesday to Saturday during Winter. Le Cascine a huge market along the river Arno at Le Cascine park. Open on Tuesday morning.

Opening times: 9.00 am to 5.00 pm approximately.
Arezzo: First Saturday and Sunday of each month.
Pistoia and Pisa: Second Saturday and Sunday of each month.
Terranova: Second Sunday of each month (small).
Lucca: Third Saturday and Sunday of each month.

Golf Courses
Golf Club dell'Ugolino, an 18-hole course located about 7km south-east of Florence (approx. 35km from Donnini). Usually closed on Monday during Winter; always booked out on Saturday and Sunday. Tel: 055-2301085 or 055- 2301009.
Golf Club del Casentino, is a smaller golf-course situated near Poppi, Località Palazzo. Tel: 0575-520167. Closed on Tuesday.
Health
The closest hospital (Ospedale) and emergency room (Pronto Soccorso) is located in Pontassieve (10km). The closest pharmacy (Farmacia) is in Tosi (84km). There is also an emergency doctor (Guardia Medica) on-call from 8pm to 8am, located in Tosi. |
