On the ground floor:
"Il Coppaio", the room where the oil was put to stand for several months in huge terracotta jars ("Coppi"). "La Limonaia", where the valuable lemon trees were kept in winter to protect them from the frost and which were grown in pots for this precise reason. "La Carraia", from the name of the arch which opened onto the room where the carts were kept.
On the first floor , in the barn, a building used for drying the forage, as homage to the winds which once blew there, there are two apartments:
"La Tramontana", from the name of the north wind. "Il Libeccio", from the name of the south- west wind, both of which frequently blow in the area. |
Run solely by two brothers, Sergio and Roberto Falzari, each member of the family has made his own personal contribution to the conversion, in particular: Sandro, the "chief", who directed the work, Clementina, the '"artist", who looked after the furnishings, the search for the right materials and who made any aesthetic decisions, Roberto, the restoration enthusiast, who has furnished the apartments with authentic Tuscan pieces from the late 1700s and 1800s. |
So, while each apartment is different as regards its origins and its furnishings there is a sense of warmth and intimacy common to them all, as well as an attention to detail typical of a conversion carried out in person, day after day.
Each apartment is about 50 square metres and is divided into two rooms with a bedroom, bathroom with shower and a sitting room with a kitchen area, except for "La Limonaia" which has an extra bathroom suitable for the disabled.
Each has its own outside area, covered by a pergola or porch giving onto the garden, to the swimming pool (100 square metres), and to the entire property with its pleasant walks down to the lake. |
