The palazzo was restored in the 1800s but goes way back to 1000 AC, when it formed part of the castle. A labyrinth of vaulted ceilings, stone fireplaces and original frescoes, this is that rarity: a hotel with an intimate feel. Each of the bedrooms has been furnished with elegance using period furniture, antiques and original paintings. |
It is an antique collector's paradise - which is no surprise: the owner's grandparents were antique dealers. It almost feels as though they are still here, wandering the historic corridors and rooms. The rooms all have en-suite bathrooms and television and guests can also relax in the Jacuzzi situated in the vaulted seventeenth century cistern on the ground floor. |
Specialness is everywhere, from the high frescoed ceilings of the 'noble floor' to the bare beams and rooftop views of the characterful servants' quarters. Every floor has a wonderful sitting room or library, with books, comfy chairs and something precious in each corner. Dinner and food/wine tasting are served in the old wine cellar and breakfast is served in the old stable or under the shade of the age-old wisteria in the garden. |
