I requested a room with a view upon arival but none was available. The next day, I noticed a large group departing the hotel and asked if it was possible to be moved then to a room with a view. Again, I was denied. That was my only problem. ... For the price, I would have preferred a room with a view. There are other hotels in the area with better views and cheaper prices. ... Nice, comfortable hotel but lacking a bit in the charm of the surrounding town. That is, the hotel seemed a little cookie-cutter.

We had a fantastic time . ... Beautiful view from most of the rooms and the pool area , really breathtaking. Good service at all times. Parking limited but staff always found us a slot somewhere. No real 'bar'. Drinks were available but not in the traditional 'bar type' area.

The hotel was fabulous!! ... It was fantastic. A great hotel in the middle of Montalcino. I wished we had stayed an extra night and just relaxed more by the hotel pool.

Due to a late evening arrival, most restaurants in town were closed but the hotel receptionist made several calls and arranged for carryout pizza. His efforts were much appreciated by my family. ... The view is spectacular; the staff made us feel more than welcome.

The Hotel Dei Capitani was a nice 3 star hotel in the beautiful town of Montalcino. The double room we had was nice and had a beautiful view of the surrounding countryside along with a tiny balcony. It was very clean. The only criticism is that the shower in the bathroom was very small.

Locating the hotel was a bit more difficult than I expected but the signage in Montalcino was helpful. ... Clean, neat, well kept and maintained.
Incredible views comparable to Amalfi coast ... Montalcino is a very lovely town.
Parking was available but access with a low slung auto was difficult. Staff offered good advice for access and assistance in departure from parking. ... Lovely small hotel with incredible views of the Tuscan countryside. A steep climb required to get to the village. I would visit Hotel Dei Capitani again.
(I would recommend this hotel to my friends)

We got a good sized room with a view, which met our expectations. The only complaints are a slight smell and a non-working extractor fan in the bathroom. ... The parking area is down a steeply sloped narrow passageway. If you have anything other than a small car you will struggle to get up and down. ... Quiet and cosy, with a great view.

A phenomenal hotel, with a great view, delicious breakfast, and a great spot to relax. ... A wonderful hotel that has sweeping views of the Tuscan Country Side. A delicious Breakfast awaits you every morning, and location cannot be beat. Able to travel to other tuscan hill towns, and enjoy what Tuscany is all about. In addition, if you love wine, this is the place with many vineyards to visit.

Gal at front desk very helpful and welcoming. she even gave us a choice of one of our rooms (we had reserved 2 rooms) and asked if we wanted to see them both first before we made our decision. One was on a higher floor so we would not be near our other reserved room but since we were traveling with our adult children, closeness was not a problem so we chose the upper floor room with a small balcony ... We loved the place -- room was kind of small --- but that is Italy --- especially when you consider the age of the building the Hotel is in. It was immaculate - quiet, and view is absolutely fabulous. The breakfast was delicious --- plenty of food -- good selection-- servers always replenishing things. We enjoyed sitting on the terrace in the evening with a drink and also eating out there for breakfast. We never did use the pool - the weather was a little too cool and we just never had the time. But the pool looked inviting and clean....next visit maybe! ... Everything went well - the person at the front desk (owner I believe) was very friendly and pleasant. she even recognized my husband from prior stays there with business groups. ... I don't really remember much of the website. Since my husband had stayed there previously with business trips, we pretty much decided to go there when we booked our family trip for this summer. From what I remember of the website, it pretty accurately described the rooms that we had and mentions the pool and terrace.I can't speak for all the rooms. I don't think the terrace and view can be emphasized enough!!!!!!! It is an absolutely idyllic location --- as is the entire town of Montalcino. It is a great location as we just walked a few minutes to several restaurants from which to choose from - also the small alimentari for water and soda for the drive during the day. ... Small, charming spot. View (at least from our rooms) is priceless! Beds comfortable, bathroom spotless. Rooms are small but we expect that in Europe. Staff was very friendly and helpful --- Breakfast was adequate and varied. We loved the outdoor terrace and would definitely take advantage of the pool if the weather was warm and we had time. If I ever go back to Montalcino, I would defiinitely stay there again.

An excellent hotel in its class. Good rooms with a great view. An excellent breakfast. It is ideally situated in Montalcino. This is important as the hotel has no restaurant. There is plenty of choice for meals in town. All in all a great place to stay.

I was returning to Dei Capitani for the second time in three years - only regret is that I missed it last year. This is a 'gem' of a hotel. The rooms are basic but immaculate with the best views I have ever witnessed. The breakfast is fantastic and the pool, albeit small, is a delight given the soaring summer temperatures. I would advise staying on the upper floors as it can be a little noisy in the lower rooms. I would recommend this hotel to all travellers - great value for money, fantastic town location (with a pool) and breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. I shall definitely return for many years to come.

Parking lot not available because of construction work in the neighbourhood, but managed OK with some assistance from hotel staff. Space available in the street.
Locating the hotel could be challenge for unexperienced traveler. Better map should be included? ... Beautiful view of the Tuscan landscape. Nice pool for coolig in the summer heat enjoying the view. Very nice and comfortable quadruple room.

It was very conveniently located within easy walking distance of many good restaurants, shopping, and attractions. ... Pool and great patio for drinks or picnics with a spectacular view of Tuscany. Very good breakfast buffet. ... Definitely a great place to stay in Tuscany.

We did not understand to stay left after going by the fortress. We did not see a street sign and ended up going through the town to find the hotel. ... Very clean. Good air conditioner in room as the weather was very warm. ... Wonderful view. Easy walk to a nice selection of restaurants. Rooms are comfortable with a good air conditioner. Quiet location for a good night's sleep.

The signs posted for Hotel Dei Capitani along the roads leading to Montalcino were very helpful. ... The views were spectacular and the breakfast was very good. ... I don't remember all of the details on the website and a friend of ours had actually recommended this hotel so he gave us many of the details.
Parking at the hotel, though tricky due to limited space, was convenient compared to many of the towns we visited.
We enjoyed that it was close enough to restaurants and shops yet in a quiet area of town.
The internet access in the hotel was not ideal - one shared computer that didn't allow access consistently but since we were not there on business this was just a minor inconvenience. ... The hotel room itself was clean and comfortable but nothing extraordinary about it but the gorgeous views from both our room and the dining area made the place memorable. It was convenient to walk to shops, restaurants and local historical sights.

A map on your website of the hotel's location in Montalcino would be very useful. ... At times there was a shortage of sun beds for enjoying the great weather. ... Thank you for a great stay, and we hope to return someday. I will recommend your hotel to any friends travelling to Tuscany.
Kind regards
Gavin Gilbride ... A comfortable, friendly hotel with spectacular views of the countryside, in a very convenient location in the beautiful Sienese hill town of Montalcino. The pool is a fantastic way to cool off on a hot day, whilst watching the swallows soar and dive over the hillsides.

We truly enjoyed the hotel and loved the view from our room and from the beautiful terrace as well. The room was a bit small, but then not too terribly tiny. The only negative I would have is that the desk staff did not seem to realize they were in the hospitality business - they were not very friendly or helpful. Again, it didn't really bother us, but it was surprising. ... I would definitely recommend it to a friend due to its location, physical siting (lovely terrace and pool) and would suggest they ask for a room with a view, as we did. I also thought the price was fair.

Not all the staff spoke English which was no problem for us but may have caused difficulties for people with no Italian, particularly with car parking issues. ... the staff were always polite and helpful when approached but only spoke when spoken to:desk staff did not even offer buongiorno/buonasera unless it was said to them first, cleaning staff were more affable. There was no car parking available as the road into carpark was being repaired and desk staff were not helpful as to where to park if limited space outside hotel was full-just said park outside which was not always possible. ... Very efficient. ... The views from rooms at back of hotel really are outstanding and should be made much of. The pool area at the rear of the hotel is only in sunshine for short period of the day and most of pool terrace is in shade for most of the afternoon and can be cold on the hottest of days. The pool was not always open during the morning period of sunshine due to late hour of cleaning. ... A standard 3 star hotel with fantastic views in a charming Tuscan town. The breakfast terrace was particularly nice.

Getting to Montalcino is no problem but, as the hotel is located in the old town, a little map of the town would be much more helpful than the freeway directions to get there.
The views from the terrace are wonderful, staff is attentive, but bedroom we got was rather beat up, definitely needs improvement.
Parking is not available and the staff told us to fend for ourselves to find a spot. There are plenty of markings on the ground which are not familiar to non-italians, so I would suggest that better parking arrangements/ directions should be provided for guests.
There are no materials posted or flyers to pick up about wine tastings in the region, attractions, etc... Also, when asked, the reception has no prepared material to offer. ... Nice views but rooms need improvement.

Checking out with our Visa-card was not possible because the system didn't accept our card. But it was unclear if it was the system that didn't work or if it was our personal card who was defect. Later during our trip our card always worked perfectly. So, perhaps to check: has the hotel the facilities for VISA-payments? ... Not all of the rooms have a view on the Orcia-valley. So it is useful to know this in advance. ... Marvellous view on the Orcia-valley from a cosy swimming pool in a quite medieval city.
